I just got myself a (used) Z2 tablet, and have to say - thank you so much for your work. It's really appreciated :)

Edit: Quick question though: Just to be sure, can I just flash this in FlashTool, without doing anything else?

just thought I'd mention, the difficulties you are having with could not read /data/mediadrm/IDM1013/ay64.dat2 are related to winvine. Unfortunately windvine has stepped it's game up and is really ruining the party everywhere. I can't even have a custom recovery on my device without netflix crapping out, work arounds only provide standard definition content. hdcp content will be an issue when windvine is involved with custom anything.

Op updated. Added new marshmallow stock firmware with root and twrp custom recovery. This is major update and it may not work without full wipe. So make nandroid backup. Go to twrp do full wipe. Flash new firmware and reboot. After that you can go to twrp and restore your data from backup. Enjoy.

Great job, I was waiting for you to post this :) Did a full wipe before installing and everything seems to be working fine. It was a little weird with that foreign language on the first startup though..i think it was Hebrew? :p

Btw, remember to change the post title ;)

Thank you. It is Hebrew because this is IL firmware this time. Also thanks for remind me about title.

Thanks, just have tried it out, works well so far. The only really weird thing is that Dualshock 3 controller support has been removed

Of course this is Sony's fault, but I 'd like to get this back...

Lost the recovery though with the flash any advice on how to get it back
I think might be good idea first to find out why you lost your recovery. For example if you have two twrp recoverys installed in different partitions of your device they likely conflict eachother. With this firmware twrp is also for LB and installed in "system" partition when with @szyslak4321 suggestion it is installed in "fotakernel" and meant for UL (AOSP/CM). Sometimes busybox is the problem and not working correctly.
If you are on LB there is this: if you want to try but maybe you want to start from scratch instead.

OK I might do like you say kulvertti
For my peace of mind should I just flash a ftf twice i.e. flash reboot flash again and just start fresh
My old xperia s tab seemed to be one partition was in use the other was flashed and then reversed with the reboot.
Here's where it gets strange every second reboot of the z2 tab on LP the boot noise/sound would be there and I know I disabled it in settings
My bootloader is unlocked so I'm not that worried but willing to figure out the reasons for the odd behaviour
I'll have access to a PC tomorrow so I can tinker with it then.

Installed this right over 5.1 1, no wipe first.. Wiped dalvik and cache after, and everything seems to be running smooth ? Se there is a new option of remote share, but really was hoping for the new adoptable storage option here. Don't have it on my Z5 (root, 6.0) either, and tried a fix available for galaxy s7, but did not work for my phone. Think I'm gonna try on z2 tablet, and hope it will work there!
Anyhow, thnx a lot for the prerooted ftf!!

Edit: also installed xposed, and working smooth. It even ran LP version of gravitybox as I had this on my previous setup(have off course updated module to mm version now) ?

Ditto and ditto. Many thanks to kulvertti!

Everything went well for me, dirty flashing over kulvertti's 5.1.1. Had a minor issue of exchange FC'ing that was fixed with a boot. The external sd card name change from "SDCARD1" to "exfat_uuid" caused a few hiccups, but were easily remedied.

If anyone has an idea how to implement adoptable storage, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Edit: Add that I also flashed Xposed v82sdk23 and all my current modules updated automatically.

I like to build a separate ROM for my SGP512 to have the correct Model number in the device info ;)

Is there a reason that Nuts DualRecovery isnt used anymore or is the lastest Version still working although its based on the older TWRP 2.8.X.X ?
If DualRecovery doenst work anymore can you @kulvertti provide a .zip-File of the latest TWRP 3.0.X.X ? Cant find it :crying:

Thx in advance,

SeS

At the moment Dualrecovery don't work on Marshmallow. To make everything work with your ROM you need little bit more than zip file with TWRP in it. However @Wolfbreak made flashable zip called RecRoot which combines TWRP with other tools to make it work with locked bootloader. You can find his thread in Z3 general section.
