Just wanted to say thanks for this really do appreciate your hard work......

Quick question if you don't mind guys what's the best kernel to use with this FW as I want to change the CPU threshold because on the original 6.01 Sony version i was experiencing a load of shutdown issues

Thanks

How about unlocked BL?

@kulvertti
Hi, Is this suitable for unlocked boot loader? I have SGP511 with unlocked BL, and can't get it to work (flashing is successful, but after reboot it never went into the ROM itself, it always stop at blue waving animation and that's it). I tried both "anti bootloop" methods, but nothing works for me (tried with TWRP 3.0.0.0, 3.0.2.0, with or without GAPPS, different SU packages...) - what I am missing?

This is compatible with unlocked bootloader. Are you sure you try it with clean install?

In TWRP I'm using advanced wipe for system, data, cache, dalvik/art cache (only internal storage and sdcard without wipe). But maybe I am not patient enough, how long it take to boot the ROM after clean install in your experience?

It takes a looong time the first time. Maybe 10 mins. Leave it for 20 plugged in. It has to build a cache file for every app on first boot, plus setup the OS.

Hm, so I left it on charger to finish the boot over night after clean install, but it still was on blue animation when I wake up this morning... So something interesting is going on here, I just don't know what. After unlocking BL I can flash any custom ROM I want and it works, but this not and also reflashing original Sony FW (with flashtool) stopped working either (I know it worked before unlock, because I recovered my softbricked tablet maybe two times with it)...

Ok, it turns out, that my tablet was somehow messed up, I had to reflash it with official Sony Emma tool for devices with unlocked BL, at first it updated it with funny version of LP for nordic countries, which didn't remembered it's settings, so every time I pressed power button instead of black screen there was some funny demo about tablet abilities (that was a good one SONY), so i very quickly reflashed it with flashtool with latest MM and when it boot, i knew that this will work too... and it is working all right, it finally booted...

Soo, thank you very much @kulvertti

I've been dutifully using @kulvertti's ROM for quite awhile, but now I'm getting a replacement SGP511 which will need to be rooted again before I can reload this ROM. Since it's been s couple of years, my memory is a little foggy.

If it comes with an unrootable LP/MM system, the first thing I'll need to do is downgrade to KK 401. Can I get a pointer to an FTF?

Any other hints for rooting this device that may be better than what I remember from 2014?

As @Jorell00 mentioned all info and link to suitable ftf file is in the op.

My apologies and thanks! I see that, but in my haste I mis-read the description to mean the link was to an earlier version of the pre-rooted flashable zip. But the ftf is precisely what I was looking for.

Just a side note... I've had this thing for > 2.5 years, and this is an opportunity to upgrade, but I really don't see anything that I would prefer. So, I'm just going to root the replacement Z2T and nandroid-restore @kulvertti's ROM.

No GPS a after flashing pre-rooted 23.5.A.1.291.
Came from pre-rooted 23.4.A.1.264 (VMo FR-DE-AT-CH-BE-NL-PL), flashed kulvertti's 23.5.A.1.291 (VMo_AU-NZ).
Everything seemed fine except the GPS was broke.
Build my own pre-rooted SGP512_23.5.A.1.291 (VMo FR-DE-AT-CH-BE-NL-PL) and also not a functioning GPS.
(Wiped cache, dalvik/ART cache and data).
Has anybody simular experiences and/or a solution?

What happens if you wipe also system before flashing rom? If not working try again with your previous rom to find out if it's hardware issue. Gps working fine here so I don't think it is known issue.

Ok, alway fear to wipe system, but if kulvertti says, I will do it! -still no GPS.
Reflashed pre-rooted 23.4.A.1.264 (also after system wipe) - GPS is working perfectly.
Flashed pre-rooted 23.5.A.1.291 again (no system wipe to preserve possible GPS driver) - still no GPS
Are there other options?

What if you start your device to safe mode?

Yes, I started it in safe mode, ran the diagnostics (from the settings menu/About Phone/etc): No GPS.
Fiddled around, found com.qualcomm.location.apk in my system, installed it and now my tablet chrashed and came in a bootloop.
Couldn't repair the bootloop by doing al the wipes and flashing pre-rooted 23.5.A.1.291 again.
Finally flashed pre-rooted 23.4.A.1.264 and got a working tablet but now the GPS didn't work in this firmware too :(

So I had PC Companion repair everyting and now I am on 23.5.A.1.291, unrooted but with a working GPS:)
(Using PCC it took less then 20 minutes to get up and running again: Bravo Sony!)

I will try again to get rooted if there is a new firmware out.

Mod Edit: removed quote
Bootloop is well known issue and that's why there is instructions how to fix it in op. If you mentioned that you try to fix it method discribed but you still have problem you may have a point.
