Just a suggestion. You might want to update the OP so that it has the latest downloads. Most people don't read past the first few posts and last page here on XDA.

Ok, I tried it but it doesn't seem to work. I took two pictures with HDR+ off and on and compared them side by side. They look identical, have the same pixel count, and the same exposure times and ISO.
This mode also does not produce 50 mpx images. Original 50 mpx mod produced images with 4x the resolution using super-resolution techniques which greatly improves details. It's basically like having ~50mp camera with you all the time.
This can also be done with Photoshop, but it's manual process and you have to plan ahead.
HDR+ by Google is using similar approach to enhance details in shadows so it can compress dynamic range without raising noise. Unfortunately this HDR+ doesn't seem to do anything
I'll have to downgrade my ROM again and go back to the original 50 mpx mod

HDR+ will give you exactly the same rasult as without HDR+. This option changes nothing. It's not anything related to 50 Mpx, btw 50Mpx is not possible anymore, because CM made it impossible by modifying camera HAL (this can be reverted though - need to flash older lib - the one bofore cm changes).
Yes, this is true. HDR+ simply does not work at all on OPO.

Do you know which files exactly?
I tried both camera.bacon.so and camera.vendor.bacon.so, but the older base camera mod still force closes on latest nightly.
Can you add the last update with the default icon?

use any system app uninstaller app (requires root access).
Check with latest update. It won't touch your stock cam.
