Update Service fails to complete

Hi All,

I have had problems with Software Update on my laptop. The app manages to fetch the update-image from the servers, but when it's supposed to start the installation it just stops, and nothing happens.

On my machine at my office this again works normally.

Does anyone know what could be messed up with my Xp Pro-laptop? Do you know for example about any conflicting apps ect?

I start now to reboot into safemode, and i'm going to remove all registered usb-devices.. maybe it's something with them..?

I andswer to my own question. I started my Winblow$ XP into safe-mode, went to device-manager, and then i removed all USB-devices, hubs etc under the USB-level. I removed also all extra COM-port devices. After a reboot, WindOw$ re-installed all nessesary devices, and again after a reboot Update Service worked as it should.

So, problem solved!

i had the same problem in windows 7 or vista , when i switched to windows xp and updated it .. it suceeded try it
