Update To 3.1, Then Root

I don't really care for information loss, can somebody send me a link to just a straight up root after updating? im on the wifi xoom, i wish i could do the no data loss method but when i mount usb storage to install that BRD Tiamat i get a 3mb partition and nothing else. preferably no adb, i just spent 4 hours rooting my HTC thunderbolt cause i missed the same step 15 or so times haha. priv message me if you know where.
