@Infinitlee: sadly I do not have a guide. Go back to the topic where you found the root instructions, maybe there are unroot instructions. I also have the C100 variant, we are not even in the same region here.
thx.
if i recovered to unroot successfully and upgraded to the emui5.0,
but i want to root device at emui5.0, i need to unlock then root again ?

@Infinitlee: once the bootloader is unlocked, you cannot lock it and unlock it, it does not make sense. You need to look up here on XDA if anybody managed to root their Mediapad M3 running Nougat, but with your exact version (btv-w09c128b005d001_b352d002). I think there is a rooted kernel image for mine (C100B303), but I do not want to root mine, I do not feel the need yet.

Hi everyone,

there is another thread regarding the latest update to B307 (which mostly lifts the security patch level to November 2017): https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/how-to/update-b307-t3654744/

Unfortunately, I have problems installing the update. I repeat here what I wrote there, maybe someone has an idea or run in the same issue?

I have a BTV-DL09C100 running on B303. It is fully stock, so unrooted and with stock recovery. I originally updated it to B303 via FirmwareFinder through B302. So far, everything worked fine.

Now I tried to update to B307. As the update is not yet available via the system update utility, I tried installing both the OTA and the full ROM through the FirmwareFinder proxy method. They both download and validate ok, but then there is a failure during installation.

Any idea why that is? The only thing I can think of is because I might have a "non-official" B303 installed that I got through FirmwareFinder before the official release? I tried installing the last B303 listed in FirmwareFinder to try to get to the official version, but that also produces an installation error.

What can I do now? Wait for the official B307 update and hope that it works?

What if that produces an installation error as well?

Any advice would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance!

I've got B307 installed via OTA, came from B303.
Didn't you get any OTA?
Not yet. Someone wrote in the other thread that rollout started on 18th December 2017 and takes 8 weeks to complete. So could be that I will still get it. I hope I will and that it will install fine. Otherwise I might have to use Huawei's rollback to the Marshmallow version DL09C300B009 and hope to get proper OTAs from there.

Same problem here... Also BTV-DL09C100 running on B303 and can not install any newer firmware via firmware finder and not getting any OTA.
@tim_h did you try to rollback, yet? If "yes", did you get any OTA for B303+?

No, haven't tried yet (no time to mess with my tab right now). I guess I will wait two more weeks until the "rollout period" is over. If I don't get any update until then, I will probably try the rollback. If you (or anybody else) try it, please report whether it worked!

@tim_h
Well I tried rollback using the firmware you can download via huawei hp...
I would not really recommend doing this because of:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/help/bricked-m3-recovery-save-t3745349
My tablet is on its way to the only support center in germany. Nice fact: The guys I phoned with told me they never had this kind of problem until now :D
Wow, that sounds really bad. Did you use the BTV-DL09_C900B300 rollback package from the Huawei download page? Are you sure you used the correct one (DL09, not W09)?

Not sure I want to risk this. But I do want to get the B307 update, in particular for the security patches.

Hi, yes I tried the right package for DL09.
(Just checked the sdcard as the package is still there)
I hope the service center will fix the software problem, otherwise I'll unlock the bootloader and have to flash via fastboot :-/
(Still have 8 month guarantee, so this is only my last hope.)
It's still possible it was just bad luck, but I would not really try it again...

Thanks for the info. I am not sure where that leaves me - should I try the rollback or not? So the service center offered to fix it free of charge? Or was there any discussion? Would be nice if you could keep me posted on what they do (if you don't want to post it here, maybe by PM).

This is actually my only Android device that I wanted to leave full stock so that I get the regular OTAs. But it seems with Huawei OTAs don't really work out that great even on stock.

So say I am willing to unlock. Would there be a way to flash the B307 update in spite of it failing on the stock recovery install? Maybe via TWRP? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you unlock your bootloader before trying to flash the huawei packages you should not really have as many problems as I do, because fastboot is always working and you can use this
to reflash recovery, boot etc.

Hmmm, but won't there be problems with the rollback if the bootloader is unlocked? In the instructions for the rollback package it says that the bootloader has to be locked.

Still at least you should(!) be able to install twrp and an uploaded version at least to save your pad.
(For example someone can upload an complete update for you, at least this way it worked with other android devices before.)
Mine arrived today at the service center but until now no news if they can repair it or not.

Yeah, I agree that having TWRP would give you a lot of options, in particular take a full nandroid backup before trying the rollback.

So maybe the best strategy would be

1. unlock bootloader
2. install TWRP
3. take a full nandroid backup
4. reinstall stock recovery
5. try the rollback
6. either success, then take it from there, or restore nandroid backup

Question: In the state your tab was in, could you have unlocked the bootloader if you had already gotten the unlock code from Huawei? If so, one could even relock the bootloader before step 5.

Drawback: I guess getting the unlock code from Huawei voids warranty?
