Unlocking bootloader will erase device.
Yeah, true, thanks for pointing that out. That's another drawback I hadn't thought about.

But at least I would have a working nandroid backup of stock B303 that I could restore in case the rollback bricks my tab.

By the way, would that also be an option to go to official B307: If someone with stock B307 made and shared a nandroid backup?

I hate it that I have to invest so much time into just updating my stock tablet. For everybody else who got B303 through FirmwareFinder, the B307 update just worked? Why doesn't it for me?

Worked for me without problems. I've got B307 as OTA, coming from B303 flashed with firmware finder.
I can't share a nadroid backup, as my tablet is not rooted.

Getting the code voids the warranty, that's right, at least you get this information everywhere.

As someone mentioned in my other thread it should not be possible to unlock the bootloader in this case, because you need to switch an option in the developer settings first (which of cause is not possible anymore).

I suppose, at least IF they can repair my tab, the first thing I will do is to unlock the bootloader...

Did the 4G/LTE version got a new OTA? Because my Mediapad is still on November security patch.
I think B307 is the newest one. But I am still on B303 (security patches from May 2017). :(

Still not sure whether I should unlock the bootloader before trying the rollback. At least if the rollback bricks my tab I can blame Huawei and hope they fix it free of charge. Once I unlock it I am on my own ...

I would recommend you to keep it locked. Why do you want to rollback? Some tablets did not get the first OTA, but they got the second.

Yeah, I am also inclined not to unlock. I want to rollback because I am on B303 installed with FirmwareFinder, but the B307 versions offered on FirmwareFinder fail to install (although they check out as suitable and also validate correctly after download). So I fear that something with my B303 is not "official", maybe I am on some beta version. Rolling back to Marshmallow and then taking the official update path from there should work, hopefully.

I will wait until 18th February, though, because that is when nominally the rollout of the B307 update should be completed.

As promissed my feedback:
I suppose my pad really had some kind of hardware error. The service center tried to repair it, but couldn't.
Today I received a brandnew m3 via warrenty from the service center.
(running b012 but still on EMUI 4.1.3)

@nospherato: Thanks for the update. That's really good news, because

a) I guess then I should have no problems with a rollback, and
b) if I do have problems, it seems Huawei will help me out

So I will wait a few more days and if the B307 update is still not arriving, I will try the rollback. I will report here ...

Welcome to the club. :(

There is a rollback package available from Huawei. For the version with LTE (BTV-DL09C100) you first need to install

http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=94468&version=380483&siteCode=de

followed by

http://download-c1.huawei.com/download/downloadCenter?downloadId=94472&version=380538&siteCode=de

A PDF with detailed instructions is included in the first download.

A similar rollback package is available for the WiFi-only version (BTV-W09), but I do not have the link.

For the WiFi version I think these are the links. First this one http://consumer-tkb.huawei.com/tkbapp/downloadWebsiteService?websiteId=670897 and then the full firmware http://consumer-tkb.huawei.com/tkbapp/downloadWebsiteService?websiteId=671373.
By going to this link you can switch between the WiFi and the 4G/LTE version easily. They still have the downgrade packages https://consumer.huawei.com/it/support/tablets/mediapad-m3-8/. The German version also still has them https://consumer.huawei.com/de/support/tablets/mediapad-m3-8/.

It's easy or not?
I don't experience with this, is my first Huawei
Any link where this is talked about?
Thanks!

Update: I applied the Marhsmallow rollback on my BTV-DL09 and it worked flawlessly. So @nospherato you probably indeed had some hardware issue with your specific tablet.

After the downgrade to B009, it immediately found and installed the B303 update. Also restoring the backup made with the Huawei app worked surprisingly well.

However, I am not currently offered the B307 update. Strange. Has the rollout not yet completed for all tablets? That seems a very long rollout phase (it started somewhere in November or early December).

Now I can either wait or try to apply the OTA through FirmwareFinder. But given that FirmwareFinder brought me to a state from which OTAs were not working properly, I'd rather wait for the normal OTA.

Is there anybody else on B303 and not being offered the B307 yet?

Interesting. Did you update to B303 via regular OTA or through FirmwareFinder?

Edit: Ok, I am fed up with waiting for the B307 rollout to reach my tablet. What good is it to have an update with security patches from November 6th 2017 to reach your tablet no earlier than March 2018? I really don't get Huawei's update policy! :(

The good news is that the update to B307 through FirmwareFinder (using the small, 500 MB package) worked just fine. This means that indeed I had previously ended up with some beta version of B303 that was not updateable any more. Luckily, the rollback to Marshmallow B009 solved this.

So my personal summary: Updating through FirmwareFinder can be dangerous if things are in a state of flux and there are several packages for the same version around. You might end up picking the wrong one, leaving you on some beta version that cannot be further updated through an OTA. But if the update has been out for months (as was the B307) with just one unique version, I think it is safe to go through FirmwareFinder. And in fact I am not very optimistic that we will get further updates after B307. :(

I'm on C100B006 & of course updater does not show any updates. Just spent some hours reading all of this thread. My understanding is to get to Nougat, I need to go the path of B009 - B010 - B303. Well I do not see B009 or 010 on FF. Next number after B006 is 302. Where can I find either B009 or B010?

Or can I roll back to C900B300 which allegedly let's you update to any firmware # (accoding to: http://www.stechguide.com/downgrade-mediapad-m3-from-nougat-to-marshmallow/)?
