Thanks for your proposal edkeys,

I have the problem at this moment, only happen when I am connected trough wifi at least 2 hours aprox, not before. The problem happen too with screen off (i wanna say, if you have configured "no keep wifi with screen off" during this time you will not have internet connection).

My info:

I live in Madrid (Spain).
My carrier is "Telefonica Movistar" but the device was bought free (iberian peninsula release), not trough the provider.

At this moment I have:
- Radio: 26.13.04.19
- ril: VISION_RADIO_RCDATA_12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19.zip (version 3.1)
-ROM: AOKP b38

I saw this problem too in CM9 (several betas), Andromadus Beta and test releases, MIUI GB (all releases). Add too, I saw the problem with the Stock radio (i don't remember which).

Works fine in CM7 and stock ROMs (android 2.2 and 2.3)

As I don't speak or read spanish, see if you can find out what the latest stock desire z rom is for Telifonica Movistar. I'll try to find out myself, but it may be easier and quicker for you.

I had this one: RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe

But the latest can be: RUU_Vision_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.42.405.2_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_199043_signed.exe
or
RUU_Vision_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.34.707.3_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.18_M3.exe

I'm not sure wich is. I will try to investigate a bit more.

This topic is way too important for the general section, should be placed in the development section so everyone can see and help to find a solution for this issue.

I'll have a non branded phone, bought it 2nd hand, don't know the original radio. It had gingerbreak 2.3.5 I think (did a downgrade).

Only european users have problems ?

Thxs, maybe it can help if we find the exact time when wifi looses data?
Its under 2 hours, 1h45 is too much, under 1h30 there's no problem for me.Its like wifi ignores data after a while ?
Maybe a logcat can help (with clean install, without gapps)?

I have prepaid (10eur/13dollar: 2GB limit and 2000sms and 10MB for Europe), but I download a lot from wifi, so when I only use 3G/hspda theres not really a problem for me.

What happens when you go to menu>settings>more>Mobile Networks>Network Operators? Does your carrier show up in the list? If no, then what happens when you click on Search Networks?

After lost data. I go to network operatorks and automaticaly start to search. After 30 seconds aprox, all the operators appears, and if i push select automaticaly the data is recovered.

I am surprised about that, because always i had to switch to airplane mode to recover data, maybe something changes with the last rils, patch or roms...

edit: sorry you already answered that. Try to wipe your efs partition again and see if it happens again.

I have never had this problem, but i thought i should mention that my friend has had this issue before on his galaxy nexus. He has the stock ROM on it and he loses data connectivity in the same way that people have described in the various ICS ROM threads. Perhaps it's an issue with ICS as a whole, rather than just our phones?

The latest baseband for Desire Z in Spain for Telefonica Movistar is:

12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03M it is almost equal to RUU_Vision_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.42.405.2_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_199043_signed.exe

Ron, this is a new updater. Do the usual, flash through recovery and wipe cache, dalvick and efs partitions. If it still gives the same problem then try it with the .03 radio.

Hope it works!

It won't make a difference, it's a rom issue.

I tried switching after 2 hours in a sense 4 android 4.0.3 Rom=> Works fine :)
I didn't flash any RIL at all.

up. Any further progress made ?

This is a second trial version. I sent it to Ron but I haven't heard back from him. If anyone wants to try it and compare to version 1, post back the results here and let me know which version runs better. It's impossible for me to test this on T-Mobile USA.

If this gives any issues, just flash the original right over the top of this.

Could someone that is experiencing the wifi to data switching issue try this updater?

Flash through recovery, wipe cache and dalvick cache and wipe the efs partitions before booting.

This is for the 26.13.04.19 radio only.

Hey Ed, I suffer from the issue mentioned in the OP and would like to try the updated patch. The file however says Europe/Asia. I am with Tmo in USA. Is it safe for me to flash it?

That's unusual that the regular 3.1 updater doesn't work for you on T-Mo. You did update the radio, correct? You could try this. Make sure you have your latest rom on your sd card along with the latest gapps and the 3.1 updater (or wifi calling 2.1...same libs)

    Reboot into recovery.
Format your system partition but do not wipe data/factory reset
    wipe cache and dalvick
    flash the efs wipe
    flash your rom
    flash gapps
flash the 3.1 updater (not from this thread)
    reboot

You shouldn't lose any apps or data doing it this way but your system partition will have all new data. Also, use 4ext recovery to be sure that all your partitions are in ext 4 format (except your sd card).
