Well sure, but it would/should get that from the tablet. Think of external wired keyboards and mice on PCs - they get power from the host device, they don't contain batteries.Doesn't the dock need power to run?

On every tablet in the Transformer series you could use the dock with the battery at 0.Well sure, but it would/should get that from the tablet. Think of external wired keyboards and mice on PCs - they get power from the host device, they don't contain batteries.
The dock should continue to work when it reaches 0 but sometimes you have to undock and redock. Last night was the first time I did not have to do that though. It just continued to work. There were no firmware updates in that time. As I use it more I will monitor its behavior to see if the disconnects are the norm or if it was an odd, uncommon behavior. Thanks, so @devilsaces experience in Post 17 (having to undock and redock the dock when its battery hits zero) shouldn't be the expected behaviour.
Yeah that is where I read about it too. I was more concerned with the dock issue in this thread. But on that subject I only experienced the black squares in Chrome once and that was after the FW update. I updated as soon as I got the tablet in the beginning of January so I don't know what it was like before the update to 4.3. The flickering I get maybe once a day.Hi Guys,
some of these problems are already discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530069
Some people (including me) confirm the black squares in Chrome disappear after FW update or hard reset.
There isn't a problem on the TF701T with the keyboard and battery drain.IMO the keyboard is the key reason for the device. If the keyboard drains battery, it nulls the key advantage. All it is without the keyboard is a fat bezel tablet with a now completely pointless proprietary connector.
Shame there is not a pen free version of the Samsung 2014 tablet. That has $100 worth of touch pen tech I would not use, but does have a standard usb connection.
My low ram weak gpu Nook HD+ will have to do for my Android use for now. Hoping they fix the 701 keyboard so it is not a battery drainer.

The keyboard is designed to charge the tablet. I just noticed it disconnected when it reached 0% but reconnecting it solves the problem. I am also noticing random disconnects even with the 2013.11 dock, but it is not as bad as the 2013.10 docks. It certainly does not drain the tablet, it just provides enough power to run it. Overall I have no complaints on how may hours I get with the tablet and dock. I can use it a full day without worrying about charging it. Most days I use less than half of its total juice. There isn't a problem on the TF701T with the keyboard and battery drain.![]()
But it must not disconnect in any way when docked!!Just got my 4th dock from NCIX. Person said it's a new batch but the date still says 2013.10. However, I was thinking maybe it's the batch that the store RMAed to ASUS and they fixed the problems and send it back.
So far the dock is definitely performing better in terms of connection, I have to try real hard to make it disconnect, meaning everyday use and even using on buses, etc. will not have problems with disconnection. I was also able to do the firmware update for the dock smoothly. Hope it stays this way... I have 30 days anyway. Never thought a keyboard dock would stress me out so much, the TF201 dock works perfect right out of the box.
I know, it's not supposed to at all. But there's an obvious improvement in this one, my previous 2 would disconnect basically everytime I pick up the tablet or move the screen angles. This one barely does when I try hard to make it disconnect, and has never done it yet during normal use. So I'm happy with it for now. If it starts to get worse, then I will return it again, I have 30 days anyway..But it must not disconnect in any way when docked!!
I tried everything on my Tf700 to get it disconnected but it always kept connected, sideways, upside down, waving held only by the dock.
Only instance it lost connection is when I undock it LOL
So I wouldn't except any disconnection at all.

You can do what I did. Bought a note 2014 from amazon warehouse. Look for one with just box damage. They normally go for $533 but I got lucky and they had them another day for $489 and bought one. There is totally nothing wrong with it besides the box having some light damage. And it's still covered under the manufacturer warranty since they are not refurbish units.IMO the keyboard is the key reason for the device. Or you can get a refurb 32gb one for $419 here but you do only get 90 day warranty on them. But if you root you will lose warranty anyway.

Then get one of these bluetooth kb $30 including shipping. I love this kb and it so light it barely adds extra weight and the battery last a long time. I haven't charged it for almost 2 months of use. It has a sleep function so it saves power when I'm not using it.

Then register here to get samsung perks. $50 samsung hub credit, $25 google credit, etc.
http://m.samsung.com/us/register-for-your-galaxy-perks/#note10
$489 + 30 = $519
$533 + 30 = $563
Either are still less than $600 I woud've spent on the tf701 + kb.
And with the extra perks for registering, I'm extremely happy with my decision. Also to add I did have the tf701 which I returned since I couldn't wait for the kb issue to get fixed. I also have a tf700 with kb and now that I have the note with kb I don't miss the Asus form factor. Let alone the larger size compared to the note.
Update: Bestbuy has the 32gb for $569 new
http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/de...5&pid=1219068488089&pcatId=pcmcat209000050006
$569 + 30 = $599 same price as tf701 w/kb dock.

I agree. I'm still not too happy with the dock. I notice it loses connection a lot more when I use it while laying in bed. Plus the trackpad is not that great. It works but its not a great experience on Android. I still have to the end on the month to return it and I may just do that. The only reason I'm hesitant is because the actual tablet is great. But I might have spent a little more for the sony tab or samsung if I didn't care about the keyboard. That is why I was considering a windows tab but then when it comes to that I would want the best, Dell venue pro 11 i5 128GB, 4GB memory. But I'm not spending over a g on a tablet.Well this kind of action one could have waited for.
Asus have to blame themselves for forcing users away from their products.
You as users are not to blame!!!
Slowly I believe the connection problem and wiggle problem never will be solved in the right way!!
I will just sit and wait a bit longer.

I do the same as you, but now with the Note 10.1 bothers the performance lags in TW and other Apps. otherwise in gaming I don't can use high resolutions like in Asphalt 8. I have the wlan [email protected] with exynos 5 and the performance is not half so good like the TF701t was. Now I think I would give it back and rebuy me a new TF701t or waiting for the new Nexux 10. Hehe
That is good to know about the performances on the other devices. I love the processor and screen on the TF701t. That is part of what set it apart from the Sony tablet. BTW, is this new Nexus 10 even going to come out? Too many damn rumors.I do the same as you, but now with the Note 10.1 bothers the performance lags in TW and other Apps. otherwise in gaming I don't can use high resolutions like in Asphalt 8.
