Updated my unlocked S7 G930P to Oreo and can't kill Hands Free Activation anymore?

Hello, I've been hanging around here for while because I wanted to find a way to change firmware from G930P to G930U, but alas I don't think it's ever going to happen. So I might as well update to Oreo that is still on bootloader 6...

Anyway, like any veteran using the unlocked Sprint G930P S7, the first thing I do when I reboot my phone is to kill the Samsung DM service 'Hands Free Activation'.
1- Open phone
2- Swipe down to get list of notifications
3- Swipe right on the Samsung DM Service notification
4- Clock on the Settings 'Cog' Icon of Samsung DM Service
5- Press and hold the 'Green Checkmark' icon to get an option to kill it....
-----but I'm not getting that option since the Oreo update. Nothing happens when I press and hold the icon.

I don't have the option to kill the Samsung DM Service anymore and it's killing my battery like mad. Anyone knows a way to kill this app now?

Thank you.

Edit: I saw one of the solutions is to delete the SprintDM.apk, but it's impossible to do so without rooting (and it's impossible to root the G930P afaik).

I´m using a G390P out of USA, just wait until it fails five times. then swipe right and click on the timer icon... then set it on 2hrs. or something else... it will dissapear until next reboot and it will stop eating your battery.

Other thing you can try is disable the app package with ADB. maybe using this as example.

Edit 1: Disable through ADB doesnt works... try this command instead: "adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 packagename" where package name is the "System" name of the app. More about this method on this post

Omfg, thank you so much! The link did the trick (and was very clear and easy to understand) with the following command lines:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.syncmlphoneif
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.syncservice

This is pure awesomeness. So far, my phone works great and the 'Hands Free Activation' doesn't appear anymore even after a reboot. I'm not gonna be greedy and try to uninstall the other Sprint Bloatware so I'll probably just leave it as that.

But I appreciate the help. Thanks again!

@hobo2999 when you were having the issue were you unable to make calls because activation wouldn't complete? I'm at a point where after upgrading to Oreo (Sprint/US Galaxy S7) the phone keeps trying to activate, but it never does and eventually com.samsung.syncservice crashes. As such I have no data/voice/text at all. When I place a call I get a message telling me I'm not activated on the network. I've been to the Sprint Tech store and even the tech's couldn't figure out what was wrong, but verified the phone is fully on the network...

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, sadly I can't help you there. I had no issues using my phone (I could text/call/data/everything). The hands-free activation wouldn't complete, so it kept running in the background and kept draining the battery. Otherwise, it didn't cause any other issues.

If the hands free activation is what's blocking you from accessing your network, maybe try to remove this app through the tutorial on the the link above?

Otherwise, make sure you're connected to your mobile network (settings>connections>mobile networks>Access Point Names
If it's empty, just add one.
You can find the settings to put just by googling 'Access Point Names 'Name of your Cellular telephone provider' ".

Good luck.

Thanks. I've tried uninstalling the syncservice (Samsung DM Service). But something somewhere thinks it's not activated, thus I get the message when trying to place a call.

Under APN there were 3 listed, none selected, but all greyed out. Not sure if that's normal?

Easy way to turn off DM Service

I just found this simple way to turn off Samsung DM Service / Hand Free Activation:
Go to:
Settings/ Apps/ click 3 dots on the up right corner/ Show System Apps / Samsung DM Service/ Force Stop.

Hand Free Activation no longer appears.

Hope this help.
