Thanks its work fine now. It was my fault, I updated from Lollipop not from Nougat. So I used Huawei Firmbootextraktor extract system.img cust.img recovery.img and boot.img and on my SD I copy ../dload/update.app version B140 Android 5.1.1. Then the Handy started I updated EMUI 4.0 and Android 6.1. Now works my Handy with all zip files where I delete the asserts.

Maybe was the problem, in the assert is wrote "kiwi" and my Handy is a "KIW-L21"
Kiwi is the nickname of Honor 5X. No problem there.

Sent from my Honor 8 using XDA Labs

Once u flash an update and booted successfully , u dont need to remove assert each and every time.

hi , i have been following this thread and many other threads very closely. I have a honor 8 (FRD-L04) and i tried to install custom firmware on it. This is what i did.

I OEM unlocked it, then downgraded from 7.0.1 to 6 , then installed TWRP 3.1.1.1 but i am unable to install ANY rom on it. I wiped the entire internal storage, then installed SU and then i tried installing Carbon or RR or PA , all of them are failing with same error code 7. I tried to delete the assert info from the archive and repacked it and installed it, again the same error.

1. Can someone please tell me what am i doing wrong ?
2. Also whats the best software to unpack, edit and repack ? I used winrar to unpack / repack and edit text lite to remove the assert line.
3. Can someone please tell me what all text to remove from the file ? may be tell me the exact words or paste a screenshot. There are a LOT of semi-colons and I am pretty sure thats where I am messing up.
4. a similar problem used to happen in my D801, I then removed TWRP and used CWM instead and the problem disappeared , but looks like there is only one recovery , twrp , for honor 8

thank you for helping out a NOOB !!!

Thanks. I know this. The problem is honor 8 thread is not as active for this issue. I assumed that the install process is quite similar and more members will be able to help me out in this thread..

So, any ideas?

Why did you downgrade? Didn't you know Nougat is a requirement for all ROM?
