Gf has a gs3 I stole off her. I still love my shift. I wish the HTC one allowed 3g and voice like the evo late does. I'm liking the black one. But I like s off too. And I'm still holding my breath for an HTC qwerty. The photon q has a very small community and I just prefer HTC apps.

I just switched to the Optimus G yesterday after three awesome years with my shift.

Optimus G is pretty slick right out of the box, but is not fun to root and unlock on a Linux box. Bricked mine last night and had to jump through loops to bring it back.

Why avoid samsung? The HTC one isnt exactly cheap right now...and the Optimus G just died completely
Well the Optimus G didn't die.. It's practically the Nexus 4. If anyone has a GSM , you can change the partitions to be exactly like the Nexus 4 :) . Really neat if you ask me. They are having trouble with CM at the moment. Spectrum was exactly the same but once they get it working, development will get better, also I got my Droid 4 refurb in mail and woot woot it has no issues this time! Little bit of scratches on screen but oh well my last refurb had bad hepatic feedback and it wouldn't charge so I'll just take this one. I'm going to try to pick my project back up and get it finished for speedy. Also if anyone is going to Verizon looking for a keyboard phone, Droid 4 all the way love it and it seems to be their best keyboard. We did receive official JB (4.1.2) , it's really smooth.

Back to topic, spec wise the Optimus G all the way and the screen on it is sick. I know my Spectrum had a really good screen. The performance is better on my Droid 4 then my Spectrum. Droid 4 is Dual Core 1.2 GHz TI OMAP vs. Spectrum is Dual Core 1.5 Ghz S3. I think that is because of the processor type, but so far the Optimus G seems to be doing good on performance. Many people love their UI which I almost got booted on my Spectrum (The 4.1.2) , it sorta booted, I got to the homescreen but it locked up and restarted.

The only thing I do not like about the Optimus G is the partitioning scheme. I have to go into an emulated sdcard and then find my file I. /0/Downloads or in /0/0/Downloads.

The ONE is by far is the easiest to root in my opinion, it took me about 10 minutes!

I would like to get the one but can't afford it right now, so out of the S3 or LG Optimus G,which out of them is the easiest root process, thanx.

They are both 0$ on a upgrade, so this is a big decision lol. Their star rating is almost exactly the same. The big up the optimus G has over the S3 would be the processor. It's a S4 Krait Pro Quad Core (That just makes me want to swap back). There are already new version of both the GS3 (GS4) and the Optimus G (Optimus G Pro). Also if you are a big photo guy the Optimus G offers a 13mp camera vs the GS3 8mp camera. Talk time seems to do better on Optimus G with 12 Hours vs GS3 9 hours. As far as the rooting process I wouldn't know. My Spectrum was really easy to root, it was simple as a bat file on windows , you just hit a few buttons and bloop does all the work for you :) and if you ever need to restore a LG to 100% stock just hit me up on that, super easy (done it a lot of times) . As far as development , the GS3 wins. Any LG gives devs troubles, although I do see a sense port for the Optimus G. I'm sure there is one for the GS3 too. Your decision bro. :)

Yeah but the thing is, with some minor tweaks you can get massive battery life on the S3 and up to 7 hours screen on time (yes, screen on time). And when I say that the Optimus G died, I dont mean that its a bad phone, just that all the hype about the "quad-core" processor and stuff just died down and yeah. And there also aren't as many developers for the Optimus G as there are for the S3, so if you plan on rooting then that might be something you wanna consider. Also, the S3 will be getting a Sense port...either when I am able to get a new S3 because the one I had is now a pile of cracked electronics, or when this other developer gets started on it (xboxfanj, he did a Sense 2.1 port for the E4GT). And as for the new versions, like I said, the S3 will (and has already begun to) get most of the new features for the S4 because software-wise it wasn't a huge jump. So unless you really want the latest and greatest, the S3 is a fine option.

As for rooting the S3, the entire process essentially consists of flashing a recovery and then the su binary. And of course there are toolkits and guides and AIO's for it by now. I would also vouch for the S3 because in case a LOT of stuff goes wrong, theres still download mode (besides recovery) where you can connect it to your PC and flash a 100% stock (unrooted) rom and start from scratch.
