Hi!

Can you see the 8GB at Windows Explorer?
If not try to low-level format the SD.

I come from HD2 were I've changed the mikroSD very often. :)
After using the mikroSD with WP7 the explorer only saw 200MB of FAT partition, so we have to delete the whole card to get the complete storage capacity back.

good luck!

1. Plug-in your flash drive to your computer.

2. Open Command Prompt with admin rights. Use any of the below methods to open Command Prompt with admin rights.

*Type cmd in Start menu search box and hit Ctrl+ Shift+ Enter.

Or

*Go to Start menu > All programs > Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

3. You need to know about the USB drive a little bit. Type in the following commands in the command prompt:

First type DISKPART and hit enter to see the below message.

Next type LIST DISK command and note down the Disk number (ex: Disk 1) of your USB flash drive. In the below screenshot my Flash Drive Disk no is Disk 1.

4. Next type all the below commands one by one. Here I assume that your disk drive no is “Disk 1”.If you have Disk 2 as your USB flash drive then use Disk 2.Refer the above step to confirm it.

So below are the commands you need to type and execute one by one:

SELECT DISK 1

CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

SELECT PARTITION 1

ACTIVE

FORMAT FS=NTFS

(Format process may take few seconds)

ASSIGN

EXIT

Just download gparted livecd, connect the card to the pc with a usb reader and boot with the livecd. Gparted will show you the unknown partition on the sdcard, delete it. Put the card in the the android phone and format it, enjoy :)

Format WP7 MicroSD with Nokia

Hi!

I had the same issue. You cannot format your card even with gparted live CD I've tried that and a lot other. Your card is security locked according to SD-CARD standard. No implementation of any PC-OS (Win/Linux/Unix/Mac) capable of formatting such a card (no such software written). It would need a driver level modification of SD CARD handling routines which simply does not exist.
Newer Nokia phones are capable of formatting the card even if this security lock is on. Go to a Nokia shop and ask them to format your card. That was what I did. It took them 1 minute. My card is fully working now.
No other way. Believe me and you would not waste a day finding this out just as I did.

Regards,
Cina.
