upgrading aos

i have the at&t htc one m7 32gb and it currently is being used with cricket running aos 4.1 and i tried to do the update on the rom manually to aos 7.23 because it is available on htcs website and my pc recognizes that my phone is connected all the way until it says waiting on boot loader then it sais error 171 that the device is not connected as my htc black screens with the htc logo
