The phone itself comes unlocked from a carrier perspective but the boot-loader is locked and a request must be made to get it unlocked. At least for me and others.
I unlocked my bootloader by download mui tools. 1st attempt I had to wait 72 hours. After that on my 2nd attempt the bootloader unlocked. I haven't found a official link for mui 10 beta to download. I think it's the ROM that's currently installed is preventing the connection to T-mobile

I'm installing the PocoPhone F1 MIUI 10 Developer ROM which was just released. I'll report back

MIUI 10 Global 8.9.13 installed and still no connectivity. I don't know what else I can do other than to sell this phone.

I was not going to try again for fear they would extend the time. I know they supposedly stopped the practice of making folks wait 360 or 720 hours but I can wait the 3 days.

Android Auto test results will be posted later this evening.

It's possible the bands may be present and disabled. We'll likely have to wait until we get some serious development going. If you must have data, I agree that you're better off selling it. If you paid MSRP you can likely make your money back. Most sellers are still shipping from HK so a US seller will likely get a quick sale.

I have been avoiding commenting on this thread, as I dont own the device but you dont need to wait for active development to try and enable bands. All you need is to unlock the bootloader, root it and then try to unlock the bands via QPST.

Make sure you have backed up your efs partition. I did create a thread in Q&A section to see if someone wanted to give it a shot.

As for @Goldeneye185, sorry to say, but I think you have a defective unit. You should get 3g atleast.

Thanks for the info. I'll try it as soon as I get my boot-loader unlocked.

I tested Android Auto and its a mixed bag. The head unit sees the phone and Android Auto launches. The screen is not registering touches in most cases. Interesting, Google assistant works and will launch audio apps and Waze. The screen gets funky at times and the screen will randomly go black and the app shuts down.

The verdict is its basically unusable for daily use.
