Here's how to install Dev Patched LGUP:

1) Download and install REGULAR LGUP and then go the LGUP folder on C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP and replace the "normal" files with the Dev Patched files (attached to this post).

Install LG Drivers.

REBOOT THE COMPUTER.

2) Alternatively, you can create the folder yourself and just place the Dev Patched LGUP files there.

You should create LGUP folder at "C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics"
Then you download "LGUP+V30DLL_PATCHED.zip" file (attached to this post) and unrar.
Copy all file after unrar to C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP
Connect device and run LGUP.exe
Done :D
(IMPORTANT YOU INSTALL DEV PATCHED LGUP IN THE RIGHT PLACE. The dev patched LGUP needs to go where regular LGUP is normally installed, so it will run correctly.)

Install LG Drivers.

REBOOT THE COMPUTER.

However, some people report better success installing "regular" LGUP first.

Here's how to flash:

* If you want to have the developer LG UP version, then you need both patched .dll and patched LGUP.exe. Attached a .zip that simply has to be unpacked in the LGUP folder and it will work right away. Dev LG UP looks like this:
J2QAOrh.png

.DLL for all the variants I've found firmwares on XDA was the same[/SIZE].

I was going to ask the following:

As we await bootloader unlock from LG, will this version of Oreo for the v30/+ be rootable like the Google Pixel 2 XL version or in your opinion, should we wait?

Then, I realized this is the 1 December 2017 update which just proves you should not read after deplaning until you have had coffee lol.

Thanks for the share, ChazzMatt as it nice to have the full of file (I did the OTA from 10b to 10c already).

Do you (or anyone else notice any difference)?

Thanks chazz! Is the main reason for this file just in case you somehow brick your phone?

I just did the ota update and wonder if there is a change log anywhere?

The T-Mobile guys wanted a verified full copy of US998 for their H932 experiments with patched LGUP file.

It's always good to have full version of the firmware you are on, in case you ever need to re-flash. An OTA update is just a partial version of firmware.

I used LG Bridge to update my spare V30 from "b" to "c" -- snagged that download link from the log and downloaded the full KDZ separately, which I then uploaded to mirror.

That's the only change log I saw. ;) Maybe there's a more detailed one somewhere on LG website.

Sent from my official carrier unlocked LG V30+ US998

Thank you ChazzMatt.
I donno you remember, but I am stuck with "your phone is not registered yet" on OTA.
I will update with this file. :)

edit:
This works on my US Cellular US998!

I used uppercut 1.0 with LGUP 1.14, upgrade selection.
Now I am on 10c now.

I updated the op to reflect that we know this firmware also works on U.S. Cellular US998, besides "open market" official carrier unlocked US998.

@rhplusa10 below was one of the people to buy an LG "contest prize" U.S. Cellular US998, many of which were re-sold online by the winners. Because these U.S. Cellular US998 phones were never actually "registered" in the U.S. Cellular inventory system somehow they cannot receive updates. They fall into some kind of gray area. (Read that thread if you want to know more, that's not what's really being discussed here.)

The point is, he and others with those wonky US998 phones (or even regular US. Cellular US998 phones) can use this "open market" US998 firmware and future firmware posts to keep their phones updated.

I just can't wait, so took my risk to update it. and.....
it works!

This KDZ works on my US Cellular US998 model.
Thank you so much!

but still, when I tap update from the phone, it shows "your phone is not registered yet."
I need Oreo KDZ when it comes out! :)

Well, I'll keep providing updates as long as I can.

I don't know what the situation will be after bootloader unlock and root (fingers crossed).

I wonder if this would work on ls998... Can't find a Sprint kdz or tot file anywhere. I know it's a different model but the last numbers are the same. I do have a spare phone I can use if I brick this device.

I clicked one of the bands in the hidden menu for my V30+ US998 unlocked. If I flash this kdz file will the LTE/modem settings reset?

If factory reset doesn't work, then flashing this probably won't. I don't know for sure. However, in that same hidden menu mode, I saw network reset choices. Not in the LTE bands section, but a neighboring section.

Could you direct me to the setting path? I'm not seeing anything that says network reset choices.

waiting for your guide, too.

I answered here to put the discussion back into the hidden menu thread.

    SOLVED:

as i read in other post. Flashing a .KDZ on a unlocked bootloader messes things up.

    What i did to solve:

Went into fastboot mode 'adb reboot bootloader'
relocked the bootloader 'fastboot oem lock'
rebooted to OS and skipped all configuration.
    Activated developer mode
re enabled OEM unlock (it was grayed out before but now it could be switched since i relocked bootloader)
    Went into bootloader mode again
Flashed my unlock.bin again 'fastboot flash unlock.bin'
rebooted into OS and skipped configuration
Activated developer mode and usb debuggin (OEM unlock is now grayed out but in ON position)
Entered fastboot mode once again and flashed TWRP img
manually entered in recovery mode (combo buttons vol+power until logo and then hold power)

Now i have fully stock ROM and TWRP
*important* it is highly recommended to use the original cable to do the flashing. (had problems with other cables until tried the original one)

Hope this help anyone else in the future

When you flashed Verizon VS9996 Oreo to US998, how did the phone identify itself in About Phone? Still as US998 or as VS996?

Sent via open market LG US998 V30/V30+

VS996. LGUP even saw it as a 996.

I'm downloading the 10c kdz posted by ChazzMatt and pulled the kdz tools at https://github.com/ehem/kdztools to make a twrp flashable zip tonight following the instructions given here https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-how-to-make-flashable-zip-roms-t2853084. If all goes well, I'll post the zip. In full disclosure, this is the first time for me to do this and I do not yet have a phone to test, still waiting for lg to start issuing v30+ bl unlock codes.
