No, doesn't matter which Nougat, 10C or 10D.For whatever reason, attempting to download latest firmware of Nougat for Frankenstein method results in an error. I've failed to download it multiple times. There any other mirrors? This is the only download doing this. Others seem to work. Does it matter which one I use anyway, if I'm just flashing to Oreo anyway?
I have a h930ds and i unlocked the bootloader and flashed some custom roms after which i wanted to go back to stock, The Lgup wont open up when i go to download mode and try to open it up even with uppercut!!! How do i proceed???
I am stuck!!
Its written modified /E/L/RO on the phone ,in the download mode !!
Does the patched lg up have all the necessary software upgrades?
You cannot flash any North American variants over H930DS. Do not flash US998 over H930DS. You have read nothing in the Instructions telling to to do that.I have a the H930DS.. For the frankenstein method I wanted to confirm if the NOUGAT US998 is mandatory or can it be a NOUGAT INDIA firmware too? Reason I ask is, I'm currently downloading the pre-July v20b firmware from one if the mirros you provided and the download keeps failing. I have to keep manually retrying for the download to continue. I found another link where the IND nougat is available https://lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/13473/H930DS10f_00_OPEN_ESA_DS_OP_0319.kdz and I was wondering if this would be fine for the Frankenstein method
You cannot flash any North American variants over H930DS. Do not flash US998 over H930DS. You have read nothing in the Instructions telling to to do that.
Since you mentioned pre July firmware, I assume you really want to unlock your bootloader, install TWRP and root?
Are you confusing Frankenstein with WTF? Most North America variants (except H932) have to use Frankenstein during the WTF instructions, to get fastboot flash commands. But Frankenstein existed already before WTF, to carrier unlock North America phones, like H931 and LS998.
You need to thoroughly read the WTF INSTRUCTIONS.
The H939DS doesn't need Nougat for bootloader unlock and root. Only North American variants TEMPORARILY need US998 Nougat to get to pre-July Oreo.
Frankenstein is used on North America variants to get them fastboot flash commands. H930DS already has fastboot flash commands.
For H930DS, you just need pre-July Oreo to run the WTF exploit.
From what I've read, I assumed, if anyone is on the post-July firmware, we need to go back to a pre-July firmware
and for that we would first need to go to Nougat and then back to pre-July for unlocking the bootloader and root.
I'm very new to flashing on LG phones so please forgive my naivety
Based on what you've mentioned does it mean I can load the pre-July firmware directly? Should I be using the "Partition DL" option or "upgrade" will work?
This part is correct for everyone, all variants.
This part is not correct for all variants.
The goal stated clearly at the top of the WTF instructions:
1) pre-July Oreo firmware -- for the early Oreo bootloader unlock exploit
2) fastboot flash commands -- to run the exploit and install TWRP.
Of the North American variants, ONLY the US998 has fastboot flash commands. Thus the need to Frankenstein most of them to US998, if they are not that already. (U.S. T-mobile H932 is an island to itself; anything I say in this post do not apply to H932.) And to get most North American variants converted to US998, they have to go through extra stage of US998 Nougat to get to US998 Oreo. LG threw in some code to block most North American non-US998 variants from flashing straight to US998 Oreo. So, the Nougat step is ONLY for North American variants trying to convert to US998, to get fastboot flash commands and pre-July Oreo.
Whereas all the H930 variants -- H930, H930DS, H930D, H930G, etc --- already have fastboot flash commands. It's EASIER for you.
You just need to temporarily downgrade to pre-July Oreo firmware.
But I wrote a very extensive guide, in in the WTF thread. You should be following those instructions. They answer all questions. There's even decision tree type stuff -- if you have H930DS you do this, if you have some other variant, then you do that...
You have to read all that thoroughly. I'm only repeating myself here, when it's already typed out THERE.
You would use Partition DL to downgrade to pre-July Oreo firmware for the H930DS.
If you mean US998 Nougat 10c or 10d, no there is not.
We didn't get any TWRP-flashable zips after a few Oreo updates. @westwood24 graciously provided for Oreo US998 and H930, and @Seadetsn and @JohnFawkes have continued that endeavor.
That's why there's no TWRP zip (and not needed) for US998 20a, b, c. TWRP-flashable zips started with US998 20d.
You CAN flash US998 10c or 10d Nougat with LGUP, install TWRP and root, as long as you already have unlocked bootloader.
But, all Nougat is really good for us just temporary stage for Frankenstein to get to US998 Oreo for bootloader unlock and root. There are so many camera and audio improvements (LG DTS 3D Stereo framework) in stock Oreo.
No, do not use the TWRP app.also... do you know if TWRP 3.3.1-0 is available for the V30? I don't see it listed on the TWRP offical page and am too afraid to download another hardware version from the offical app.
. any idea guys...?
(IMPORTANT YOU INSTALL DEV PATCHED LGUP IN THE RIGHT PLACE. The dev patched LGUP needs to go where regular LGUP is normally installed, so it will run correctly.)You should create LGUP folder at "C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics"
Then you download "LGUP+V30DLL_PATCHED.zip" file (attached to this post) and unrar.
Copy all file after unrar to C:\Program Files (x86)\LG Electronics\LGUP
Connect device and run LGUP.exe
Done![]()
* If you want to have the developer LG UP version, then you need both patched .dll and patched LGUP.exe. Attached a .zip that simply has to be unpacked in the LGUP folder and it will work right away. Dev LG UP looks like this:
![]()
.DLL for all the variants I've found firmwares on XDA was the same[/SIZE].
When you flashed Verizon VS9996 Oreo to US998, how did the phone identify itself in About Phone? Still as US998 or as VS996?
Sent via open market LG US998 V30/V30+
There was a guy who had his bad ESN LS998 "converted" into U.S.Cellular US998, so he could use a SIM card. But he still had Sprint firmware on his device, from what he described...
If you find out more, we're interested.
