USB-C to HDMI?

I know the Pixel 2 series didn't support USB-C to HDMI cables, but I was wondering if that's fixed on the Pixel 3 or whether Google still expects everyone to use Chromecast?

Desktop mode is one of the few brilliant things about my P20.

No, it doesn't support any USB-C Alt-mode.
Shame, but expected.
