Hello

I apologize for my poor knowledge of phones hard/soft programming but what I don't understand is why does the note 3 require a kernel update in order for UMS to work?

Wouldn't a root/busybox command or an Xposed Framework module do the trick?

Do any1 of u guys using mass storage

Reason bcoz of which I need that feature is dat I hv some files whuch I want to be always hidden

To avoid them showing up in gallery I hv put the usual .nomedia in the folder

But in oreder to have them not appear even in file manager...I rename the file by outting a dot at starting of a filename and uncheck the show hidden files checkbox

This works perfectly for me in phn...but in pc it does not show those files w
which start with dot

These files can be only seen if we use mass storage

or is there any other woraround to see those files

the reason they arent showing on your pc is because your folder view isnt set up to view hidden files, as the files you are hiding on your phone have the hidden attribute checked in their properties. What OS are you running?

Also, a good app to use is QuickPic (very lightweight < then 1 MB and really easy to use) as it as an option in its menu to hide pictures/video, and the ability to see those hidden files with a password.

Note 3 USB Mass Storage

No, mass storage option

Actually, there are two ways to access USB option,
1. Plug-in your cable to your pc and your phone and it will show a notification, tap it and it will take you to the USB option MTP/PTP.
2. Create a short-cut that will take you to USB Setting. How? Install Anycut.apk (you can find it anywhere) and select activity and wait a second to populate the display and there you can find all the short-cut, including the USB Settings (the short-cut the were really too many scroll down to find the USB Settings) or simply install Nova Launcher, on your home screen, tap and hold to show the "Add Home Screen" menu window, tap short-cut, tap activities then scroll down and tap the USB Settings and there you can find the three short-cuts (USBSettings/USBSettings_CMC/USBSettings_STE) select/tap what short-cut you want.
But in my case, when tapping on that short-cut I've created a popup prompted me with these notice "Permission Denied" and I really don't know what's the problem. I'm here reading this topic because me too wants to enable the USB Mass Storage because using MTP/PTP was too slow for me and my PC is not yet USB 3.0 supported. Really hate I transfer a Gb file size, and the Class10 SD card became useless. Unlike the time when I'm using my Galaxy S2, when plugged-in to my PC the SD card recognized first and then followed by Phone Storage and really FAST to transfer huge files. I hope it will be possible on my note 3.
;)

Any success on getting mass storage to work?

I get an initial failure enabling Mass Storage Mode with USB Mass Storage Enabler, but I hit "Mass Storage Mode" again, and it works.... BUT my laptop and my desktop (both Win 7-64) see the phone as a CD drive. Set the mode back to MTP, and it comes up as a portable media player.

Switch back to mass storage, and repeat.

Currently rooted with Darthstalker

Mass Storage

Has anyone found a way to enable the mass storage? MY case is like this:
I flashed a new rom without doing a nandroid back up only titanium (because I thought it also backs up the pictures, sorry noob here). I tried using many recovery softwares like Dr.Fone and etc but I can't seem to recover my files. Most of the softwares are looking for the mass storage. I also tried using the USB Mass Storage Enabler but it just transforms the phone's path into a CD ROM. Guys, you are the experts. I badly need your help. I lost important pictures needed in work. Please guys help.... Thanks in advance :)

THANK you - finally someone who has the exact same problem as me . Now, 6 moths later, have you found a way round this - I'm using a Korean Note 3 (N900S) so I don't think a custom kernel is gonna do the trick for me because, close as N900S and N9005 are in specs, there are plenty of warnings on the forums to not try to install N9005 ROMs onto other models?
