USB Mode Question

I have a question concerning USB host mode.

I want to take my NOOK color and hook it to my powered harddrive and move over a video file to the nook memory card without the use of a computer.

I bought a micro usb to usb female adapter.

Is that all i need?

Ive seen talk that you need a powered usb hub too which kind of defeats my purpose.

You shouldn't need a powered hub with a powered hard drive... the reason some require a powered hub is the devices require more power than the nook provides... so the hub provides the power.
