use higher bitrate in camcorder

So i was tremendously disappointed to find my snapdragon beast of a phone to only record video with 8000hz audio. I'v been searching for ever and it seems like no one wants to remedy this. am i the only one that would like audio that doesn't sound crappy? Is it possible to mod the apk to allow for higher bitrates? Possibly 44100? Or can some one write an app to do this? i am sick of the 8000hz.
