I am new to the NC. I have installed CM7 (somewhat satisfied), but have now moved to ICS. I initially installed from Samiam's nightlies, but now am using the nightlies from Eyeballer. I would like to thank both Samiam and Eyeballer for their efforts.

There appears to be a inconsistency to touch sensitivity. The response to tapping (touching) icons seems to be hit or miss. Within applications, the soft keyboard at times is at times ultra sensitive (inputting extra characters). I have searched the forum and can find no reference to these problems (maybe I have not searched correctly).

Also I can find no menu for the News & Weather app (GenieWidget.apk). If I remember, with CM7 on the nook, there was a menu icon for this app. I know it is there on Galaxy Tab Gingerbread, and Samsung Infuse Froyo. With NC ICS I cannot force a reload or set my location without the menu icon.

If I have brought up issues that have already been dealt with, plz forgive me and point me in the right direction.

Thanks again to the devs and those that provide us access to these updates!!

The touch sensitivity issue is well known. It is much better than it used to be, but in my opinion could still stand improvement.

The menu is there, it just looks different. It is three little vertical dots either on the bottom status bar or in the app itself in the upper right corner. It is now called the 'action bar', but is really the menu button.

I can find the menu in all of the other apps ( I had figured out the vertical dots that is in various places), but for the News and Weather app (GenieWidget.apk), there are no vertical dots to be found (at least on my system).

There must be a bug in the program or the tablet gui. I run at 240 dpi so I am normally in the phone gui. The three dots show up on the lower status bar in News and Weather there. When I switch to 160 dpi and the tablet gui, there are no dots there. Something is either wrong with the app or the tablet gui. The gui is supposed to recognize when the menu is needed and show it. If it's not needed, it does not show it. Somehow they are not communicating right.

I have been scouring the CM9/ICS development threads. Is there a common place to list issues encountered with CM9/ICS where the developers can be aware of the issues? Not a place to complain... just a place to note issues with the current nightlies.

Examples are:
1. no menu for "News & Wearher" (GenieWidget) when running ui at 160 dpi
2. Terminal Emulator does not show superuser request when trying to "su" if superuser automatic response is set to prompt (if su automatic response is set to "allow", then "su" is successful).

Just looking for the best place to note problems so that they can be seen and possibly fixed.

Currently running:
Eyeball's 3-2-2012 [SDCARD]

Am running eyeballer's "update-cm-9.0.0-encore-KANG-20120301-080001-opengl-signed.zip" and find everything working. Just want to mention I didn't have any lockups until I installed Chrome Beta. After managing to uninstall it I have not had another.

I do not think it is cm9 issue though with missing menu on news and weather app. I can not find it in the same app in stock ICS rom on Transformer as well unless I am missing something.

The problem is either the app is not telling the tablet gui that it needs a menu or the tablet gui is not responding properly. All I can say is the menu shows in the phone gui. This could either be a CM9 issue, or ics issue. Sounds like ics since you have the same problem with transformer.

The work around that I used for the news and weather widget (a must have! ) was to use Button Savior soft keys app. BS has a menu button so you can bring up settings on the N & W widget.

Just upgraded to the latest Eyballer build and also followed the suggestions of SeaFrator ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23249779#post23249779 ).

Observations:
Everything seems a little snappier; Response to touch (at Home) seems improved.

Touch response within Google chrome is still slow and hit or miss (especially near the edges).

Thanks to Eyeballer for access to his nightly builds!
GooManager is great!!

Special thanks to Fattire for the new uboot... works great!!

UPDATE: This build is superior in all respects. The touch response is much better in all apps that I have tried (except for the default chrome browser).

I have been checking out browsers. So far I have found 2 that may meet my needs... Opera and Firefox Beta.

Opera seems to work fine, is very responsive and has no touch sensitivity issues. I am not a fan of the screen layout... it seems to be more suited to a smaller (phone) screen. For a phone, the layout would be excellent, but I find it lacking for anything with the real estate of the nook color.

Firefox Beta seems to be almost as responsive and as sensitive to touch as Opera. For me, the layout is much more suited to the nook color. I think I'll try flying with this browser for a while!! I need to find out how to make it the default browser to be activated from other apps (i.e. overdrive console, etc.).

Found it! Duh..!
When you use an app that needs to open a browser connection, it will prompt which browser to use. It will also allow you to set it as default... FOR THAT APP. While I am testing, I will not set a default... just let it keep prompting.

I have updated to Eyeballer's 3/5 build and the latest gapps (20120304). I do not know if the Browser app changed in this latest gapps build, but it seems to be more responsive... might be my imagination (or the power of suggestion, since it is something I am anticipating).

One issue that I am monitoring (occurred with Eyeballer build 3/4 build) has to do with charging and usb operation. After the NC was fully charged, it indicated that it was running off battery and was discharging even though the charger was plugged in. Also during this time, plugging the usb into the computer had no effect (no indication of usb connection on the NC or the PC and I was beginning to think I had a bad usb/charging cable). Everything else seemed to be operating normal. A reboot cleared all of the above conditions.

Hi,

I'm about to buy one nook color and I have a doubt, is it possible to watch movies or videos using soft-decoding at ICS? Or it lags a lot? I have an X10 and I use moboplayer with 1ghz it runs fine 720p videos softdecoding.

Bye!
