I'm visiting a friend and my NC running both Eyeballer's last few nightlies and my own compiled Cornerstone build is unable to see his wifi network, even after adding it manually.

It's a normal WPA2 network, identical to my home wifi which my Nook recognizes fine, and both my Desire (also running ICS) and two different Ubuntu laptops see it just fine. I'm sitting right next to the router right now and the Nook finds 7 other nearby wifi networks but not the correct one.

I've tried turning adhoc mode off in tiwlan.ini as some people recommended. Any other suggestions? Even router settings that might affect it?

It took me a while to track it down. It is GoogleLoginService.apk in /system/app. It sounds like that would be an important app to be able to log in. It is part of the gapps install zip. Look to see if it is in your system. If not, then maybe it did not install properly. Or maybe the google installer did not put it there for some reason. Or it could be there and just not activated? If it is there try installing it. If not there try extracting it from the zip and putting it in /system/app. Be sure to fix permissions to match the other files there. Then reboot and see what happens. Worst that can happen is you have to reflash again.

Edit: Maybe another app to try clearing cache and data on is Google Services Framework.
I recopied the GoogleLoginService.apk along with the Vending.apk and Framework (I forgot what that was called) but it says "Application not installed" if I run any of them. I did remount the /system as RW, but I'll try again later today

There is a new gapps dated 3/17. Have you tried that? Get it at goo-inside.me.

I just downloaded it but there is no difference in result.

I'm going to switch to a newer update and see what happens
The problem is in the settings that are left behind in /data. /data is not touched with a flash of nightly or gapps so any corruption is still there. I recommend backing up with Titanium Backup (just the installed apps, not system apps/gapps) and formatting data with CWM. Then after you have freshly installed the new nightly and the new gapps, then restore your installed apps from TB. That will clean out any potentially bad info in data about the gapps.

Backing up and crossing my fingers :D

EDIT:

Most of my apps are done restoring, Google Play still seems to be in working condition!
Will the same thing happen after a rom update?

CM9 on Rooted Nook Color

Hi,

Is anyone experiencing constant freezing with the CM9 root? I constantly have to reboot it and the touch screen lags a bit. Any advice would be helpful!

Need more information about your configuration. Installed on Emmc or SD? Opengl version or non-opengl?

Sent from my Nook Color running ICS and Tapatalk

I am having the same problem. The phone suddenly freezes especially when I turn WIFI ON or when I use the 3G.
I am using Magldr 1.13 and ICS CM9 1.5 (both SD and NAND have the same issue).
When trying with NAND I am using the 250MB recovery.
When trying with SD I am using a Class 4 8GB Micro SD.
What would be the solution?

I just installed Samiam's latest nightly. I can't seem to find a menu button for legacy apps. Am I missing a setting that enables this?

Thanks.

Legacy apps? You mean to run in screen compatibilty mode? That is in the Dev Tools app. Go to developer settings and uncheck 'disable compatibily mode'. You must reboot after that.

Or did you mean install from unknown sources. That is in security. But I thought that was checked by default.

Finally decided to switch to have CM9 on the emmc after using it on an SD card install for awhile...and of course hit an issue.

Basically, WiFi disconnects after a few minutes then goes into this reconnect loop and refuses to stay connected unless I turn WiFi on and off.

I'm using eyeballers 03/24/2012 non-OpenGL build. Previous build on the SD card was 02/06/2012, which worked fine. Was hoping a newer build would resolve some of the random issues I was having (i.e., tablet apps not being in tablet mode, etc.)

Anyone seen something like this before? Via search I could only find a brief mention of a 'Wifi reconnect issue' in 2 posts and no real details on it.

I think that was an issue with several nightly builds 4 or 5 nights ago. I think the issue has been resolved. Try flashing the newest build.

Trabuchet (CM9 launcher) does not have that option.
I'm trying out the Nova launcher, download from here http://novalauncher.com/
It's got lots of options including what you are looking for.
