My son is using an iPhone 3g but I am planning on upgrading him to an Android phone.

My question is that the plan he's using is the 5.99 unlimited plan for tmobile and how do I go with using that plan with Android. Maybe even a G1 is an upgrade if it's gets 3g or mytouch.

if you plan to use 3g with your 5.99 plan, dont get a tmobile branded phone (ie g1, mytouch, vibrant etc) as youll be prompted to ugrade your data plan. using a nexus one, xperia x10i, n900 and other phones on the 1700/2100 network not subsidized by tmobile should be able to get you wireless data without the upsell prompt.

make 2 apn types
internet2.voicestream.com
apn type: default

heres the settings for the mms apn profile:
epc.tmobile.com
apn type: mms

everything should be left blank, unless its stated by the pic :D

Thanks for the information and screen shots.

But how the Nexus can use that plan, when O go into my T-Mobile account I see the Nexus on the website. So that Means they can see which phone we are using?

Edit: Added thanks to you two.

I called two hrs ago and changed the plan from Android $24.99 to the T-Zones $5.99 (It was still available for the area I got my account) entered the APN's and everything works the same.

Can't believe I didn't knew this was possible.

On the HD-2 I imagine you can use it if it's running android right? Because they should be able to identify it if running Win-mo like it does from factory.

Sorry to ask this question but do I need to contact T-Mobile to activate t zone or could I just add the new APNs and it will change my bill over time.

T zone no longer exist. You cant get it any more.
Just call tmobile and double check.

Maybe T-Mo was able to give me the t-zones to me because that's the plan I have on my second line. (the one with the iPhone)

No! They scan IMEI numbers. Doesn't matter what OS the HD2 is running, as long as it's T-Mobile branded, they will slap you with a data plan.

My brother has a N1 with web2go for $5 (normally $10 but got loyalty department to give it for $5).
