Just purchased OP7T. Planning to use without rooting for some time as maybe Android 10 is new and may get some OTA updates. Also currently root may not be available.
Is there any app to transfer my apps and data from old rooted OP3T?

Your apps will restore via Google play anyway, but compared to titanium I'm really not sure. I don't think you can make an image which is as accurate as that.

I'd get the most important bits like contacts, pics, vids and start afresh with apps, besides the ones that sync online content.

Texts can be backed up with an app
WhatsApp backs itself up.

Starting afresh is a better option, at least for battery life.. (I'm including the likes of titanium in that opinion too)

Bootloader unlocking will be available as always for the 7T, plus they're the most relaxed company in this regard, I would always root this device, it's essentially what spawned this phone, partly why it's so easy to do so.

One plus switch,MyBackup Pro and the one i use personally G Cloud Backup
Will check Oneplus Switch once I get the new phone but MyBackup Pro does not work without root. G Cloud seems to backup to cloud, i would have preferred local. Does it backup unrooted apps data?

I backed up with Google but it seems to have backed up only a few apps so not sure how useful it is.

Is there any process already available to unlock bootloader and root OP7T and install Magisk?

Edit : I checked out Helium and it is not able to backup all apps like TiB. I only want to backup user installed apps and not any system apps. So it seems I will have to wait for root to work before being able to transfer all apps.

I would say you're right. Once this phone is available in the US, development will pick up pretty quickly.

Didn't realize that. So it seems I will have to wait.
They are two ways to root the device
1. unlock bootloader/boot twrp/ flash magisk
2. patch stock boot img with magisk/ flash patched boot img on fastboot/ install magisk through magisk manager
Both ways not possible at this moment

Can I just root the phone using this simple guide for OnePlus 7 Pro :
https://www.xda-developers.com/unlock-bootloader-root-oneplus-7-pro/
Do do I need some patched boot images?
Dude root should be very very simple unless things have changed so much.

OnePlus used to be a haven of bootloader unlocking / relocking, and root was a file you flashed and forgot about..

TWRP used to be on their damn website lol.

Can't have changed that much can it .

My advice

Buy it
Unlock it
Root it
Enjoy it
Relock it
Box it
Sell it

Buy another one

Repeat.

Yes, I will be rooting as soon as a compatible TWRP is available

I'm waiting a stock rom to start working on a TWRP, let's see when it will happen
You'll want no limits xXx then..

That's the best ROM I ever used on the oneplus 5.

The one that I achieved 14 hours 47 minutes SOT on..

Apparently you can flash it with magisk now.?

Maybe it's not needed to modify it, but for sure it will not decrypt
You don't need it to decrypt.

Remove your pin / password. Then sideload the ROM to \temp and flash away..

You may need stock recovery to wipe afterwards but it will work..

The flash I mean. No idea on the custom recovery.

Once I get mine I'll flash it no problem.

PS: there is a real possibility that it actually will decrypt, these phones are like twins mate.

I guess time will tell, that being said this is the quietest OnePlus forum I've ever seen man.
