I got mine for $300 off on kijiji. Since its the XT925 I unlocked the BL but I'm not trying much since I need to keep it functional at least til my semester is over I rely a lot on this thing

That's what I'm saying its my primary phone and I guess I just don't have enough faith in myself after reading through people trial and error with this phone :/

I am. Used to have a I9300 and everything was easier with it. Apart from root, I haven't felt the need to unlock bootloader or flash anything on my razr.

Yeah it was very simple with my optimus one and it was only a $100 phone so I didn't stress it, but I'm sure once its confirmed that we won't get updates past jb4.1.1 and IF ( big if) it becomes a lot less worry full about all the **** that could go wrong rooting and flashing this device, then I might join in on it.

Lol rest assured the HD will be getting updates past 4.1.1....

If you are able to unlock the bootloader (xt925 or dev edition xt926) then you really have very little to worry about. You can always fastboot restore the device if something goes wrong. Or, even easier just flash a custom recovery, make a backup of stock and you can simply flash/restore back to it if there is ever a problem.

Along with that, rooting with an unlocked BL is simple. Use a custom recovery and flash the su.zip.

My bootloader is unlocked and I've been on every ROM we have available, both through safestrap and TWRP. Its a lot of fun.

Lol well I have the regular x926 non dev, ifni unlock my bootloader and root the phone, if I ever need to is it possible to unroot and relock boot loader?

I use my AHD for deving and modding. Bricked it more times than I can count. Luckily not perma-brick lol. Its 50 bucks to fix that.

Can't unlock the boot loader on the consumer 926. You can unroot but there is a thing in stock recovery that let's them know if you were ever rooted.

Well that's rather disappointing, hope it can be worked around although I'm sure I'll never need to return the device...ya just never know and I just can't risk not having a phone with a kid and 6 month pregnant wife and I work over an hour from home.
