Fantastic Rom. Thank you Aiden. Just one question. How does one update from version to version without having to re-install everything. I know you mention backup, but how do I do that? Is the backup only for things you have saved on the internal HD or will the backup also save installed apps?

2. If i put v8 manually, does the OTA work afterwards?

As i gave my "old" "Mecool M8S PRO L LB" to parents, so dont want to run there due to each update, hope u understand

Hi @aidanmacgregor, i was running V7 of your ROM and it looks to me that after a failed attempt to install the MI OTA update, i realized that i was not able anymore to install V8 using the USB Burning ROM.

So i installed TWRP and tried to write the img. Now my TV BOX is looping in the initial logo and i'm not able to do anything. When i power up with the reset button pressed i get no USB device. Any ideas why the USB burning tool is not working ?

I used linux burning tools https://github.com/khadas/utils and was luckily able to burn image !

Thinking of installing this on my old alphawise h96 pro + and my mecool m8 pro l ( original hardware version) bit noticed people mention some issues.

Does the latest firmware work well for those two boxes?

ota dosnt work in v8, there is no update availible pop up, until xiaomi release another update, i plan in releasing an "LTS version" with ota disabled soon

Managed to port Aidan's ROM to X96 Max Plus Q1 (There are lots of Max+ Models, you might wanna check what you have before installing)

HDMI CEC feature is abit faulty. I will provide another fix when I find out what's causing it.
Edit:- It's not the CEC feature. It's something else that turns the box on by itself that would need to be fixed.

i highly recommend usb burning tool, if your runnin anroid 9already then amlogic sd burn card maker may work

I later found a link for the X96 Max Plus.

However, there was only one for X96MaxPlus Q1 and no for Q2.
