yup, read the same thing tonight on yahoo..

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/verizon-sees-revenue-increase-shared-plans-190235445--finance.html

not sure if ill stay or not.. i dont use anywhere near that much data, but its the point... im tired of the crap they pull.. taking something away is the same as a price increase.. and they got you by the short hairs - what are you going to do? go somewhere else? people switch so frequently that if i leave, someone from the death star will replace my "spot"

its like a game of 3 card monty and they know it..

You must have missed the fact that Verizon is *also* adding a new $30 "upgrade" fee, in addition to replacing your unlimited data with only 2 GB a month. "Taking something away" is *in addition* to "a price increase".

Since they aren't giving you anything different for the new $30 upgrade fee, I can only assume it's to cover their administrative costs to reduce your data plan.

Plus with sprint and Amazon wireless you can get gs2 or future gs3 for a penny for new customers.
Do you have a link for that, Tonu42? I called Sprint three times today; one time the rep didn't have any idea if Sprint was even going to get the Galaxy S3 (never mind when), and the other two times the reps hadn't even heard of the Galaxy S3.

I see what there doing. Right now each phone on your plan is $30 for unlimited so now there taking it away and putting a one time $30 a month 2gb plan to share across all phones which makes sense (for family plans which cost alot as it is) but may also make a lot of people want more data in return costs more money. Stupid - no (for the common people who dont use much data) but for us then yes its stupid for us who root and use lots of data it will suck. Im an unlimited type of guy but who am i to the millions of other verizon customers who probably bitched to get this. I do wish there plans went down in price though. 2 fassys for $209 a month (unlimited everything) kinda sucks cas i need it for work.

Anyways it will suck if we loose unlimited although im not even sure if i even hit the cap eith my online games, web browsing and youtube. Just there way of malimg big users pay more i guess :banghead:

Galaxy Nexus (CDMA) is $650 & Google offers the HSPA model for $400. I can see the Galaxy S3 easily going for $750 at launch. Your only real option with this policy is to wait much longer after the phone is released.

I guess since that's what I already do anyways that might not be a problem. Oh, except for the fact that the plan we're on includes paying back the subsidy for the Fascinate and then a lot more. You get screwed on the huge upfront purchase if you pursue this route, then you get screwed on paying a subsidized rate for an unsubsidized phone

I have never heard of a subsidized rate. I may be wrong, but i think all rates are the same.

Anyway. What i was thinking, keeping my fascinate forever, and adding a line for 10 dollars. I'll keep my unlimited internet for home. And have a new phone that Verizon will have subsidized

I'm not sure if it will work. But should. Anyway, add a extra line, Get a phone subsidized, cost is 240 dollars over 2 years for the extra line. But your 700 dollar phone for 200-300 dollars means you're saving a couple hundred dollars..
Once you have the phone i don't see a reason you would not be able to activate it under your original number. Another thing that may work, and i have done it in the past, is taking the upgrade for another line on your account of you have one.

I just talked to them on the phone and I can keep my unlimited data for another 2 years long as I upgrade before the data plans change. After that the only option to keeping unlimited data would be buying the device outright. Currently I have 2 upgrades available so Im thinking about upgrading very soon. Also The rep I talked said there is no gurantee that the gs3 will make it to verizon.

That's the trouble...at the moment there's nothing I'd want to upgrade to. I like the size of the Galaxy Note, but only AT&T has that...and who knows if we'll ever get a shot at the GS3 before the chance to keep our unlimited data expires?

Within two years(or less) I'm betting the only well equipped smart phones will be iphone and their way played out "droid" line... Any sammys will be the entry line models.

I love vzs service, but not being able to get the wanted and anticipated phones is getting old... Let alone they don't ever make it public that they might get whatever phone.

Unless you are gonna use sense, I recommend not getting HTC. You are far better off with Samsung on developments if you get a reasonable phones.

well samsung development is directly related to the last 2 nexus phones being from samsung

obviously if you have either of those, you dont have to worry about roms/kernels/latest stuff

but the galaxy s and s2 phones have working 3.xx kernels and aosp because of those 2 phones

if the next nexus was (lets say) a LG or HTC or MOTO or something, it wouldnt be that easy anymore

this is incorrect. Samsung development on non nexus phones is attributed to their unlocked bootloader and ease of modification. the nexus has an unlocked bootloader so it doesn't matter who makes it, it's gonna be easy to dev on. everybody except Samsung locks their bootloaders and that is why it is harder and takes longer for mods and roms on other phones.

Honestly I'm at a point where I don't care if I lose unlimited or not. Where I live the only three choices we have are Verizon, AT&T and Nex-tech Wireless. I was debating going back to NTW but they raised their only smartphone data plan to $45/month and it no longer includes tethering. It is unlimited data and texting but it's not worth paying $15/month more for 3G service where we have VZ 4G where I live. If I have to stick with a crappy 3G service I'll switch to AT&T and get 3gb/month for the same $$ I pay now.

Just my 2¢ worth.

just buy your phone from craigslist... i've seen the galaxy nexus sell for $200-300 with a clean ESN. I actually bought my wife's iphone 4 for $200 off craigslist and took it to the apple store and they replaced it with a new one for free since there was a problem with it and the phone still under warranty..
