really looking into the moto g5s plus.

I hear you. I have the Moto E4 and I was thinking about going to the E4 plus or the Moto G5s plus.
Couple of things though:
Moto E4 imo has better display and better sounding speaker than the E4plus.
Moto G5s plus has camera (dual camera rear) that seems to be subpar for a midrange device.
If I had my choice I would go with the E4 plus over the G5s plus.

the g5s has a premium metal unibody and 1080p display. thats the only reason im considering it. I had the e4 plus, the only good thing about it was the battery life. moto really needs to axe the 720p displays, 1080p should be standard.

I know right, the 720p has long since played out and I agree that 1080p should be the standard.
Btw, that 5000 mAh battery on the E4 plus is hard to turn down but the phone just doesn't have much else to offer.

Yes, Unlock for about $2 on eBay. Will work with Tmo & ATT, and their MVNOs. You may, or may not, need to switch to 3G for first call to register (I had to), then you can switch back to LTE without any further problems. You also may need to manually add APN, but I did not need to.
It's a pretty solid phone and can be had for $40 at Walmart, or price-match elsewhere. Really stinks that the bootloader can't be unlocked. I didn't think it would bother me...but it really does. Oh well, I knew it before I bought it. Will be a good backup.

Did you sim unlock immediately after purchasing?
I just bought the E4 with the $40 Walmart deal. However, I don't want to open it without knowing if I can sim unlock it immediately, or if there's some requirements that have to be done prior to unlocking.

I sim unlocked my daughter's VZW E4 immediately ($2 ish code from eBay). Only sim that's ever been in it is my postpaid ATT one.

SIM unlocking generally takes ~12h right now through eBay depending on the seller. All you need is the IMEI to PM them, so the sooner you do it, the sooner you get the unlock code.

Sorry but it doesn't work that way, they just open a program a program on their computer and use a calculator to get the code. You can buy them for like $50.

I bought the Verizon Prepaid, to use w/ a verizon post paid accoutn/sim. I bought a unlock code off ebay, but was wondering how to go about this, as I dont' remember seeing a prompt for an unlock code when starting up the phone w/ the verizon postpaid sim.

I am not sure but from what I've read it cannot be used on a post paid account

On each reboot, it shows as notification the Sim is not Verizon Sim. Is there a way to disable this check?

Also, for each call, it drop to 3G from LTE, is this normal?
