Perhaps the timing is coincidental, but since updating to Android 7.1.2 OTA, the SIM pop method no longer works on my Verizon Pixel. The hotspot button lights up for about 15 seconds, then goes dark. Worked fine on 7.1.1...
I just got my update and have the same issue. Whhhaaaahh! :crying:

Uninstall Android Wear
I have the same "SIMPOP" issue and I don't even have Android Wear.

I'm thinking they added an additional check for the devices to prevent this per Verizon's request I'd imagine.

Yes alot of people switching over. I'm going to wait and check with co workers and see if they get throttled, right now some of my co workers are at 50gb and not throttled yet but that can change after a few months. Maybe it's a ploy to get the old UDP to switch and when most of them do they can enforce the 22gb throttle
It would be nice if the new UDP would cost less than the gUDP. It will cost me more to switch due to no employee discount.

Same thing happened when I updated to 7.1.2. I don't think it's coincidental. Does anyone know what the easiest way to get it working again would be? Or easiest way to revert to 7.1.1? Thanks in advance!

Well, now that they have gone back to unlimited data, you could just switch over to the unlimited data package and use the hotspot they give you with the package. I held on to my grandfathered data until last week, and since I never go over 30 gigs in a month, I didn't see the plus of paying the extra money per month anymore.
You only get 10gb of LTE hotspot... goes to 3G after that

Any new tricks to get the hotspot on? The Sim pop stopped working for me after last update.
Hey guys, I might have figured it out with the Sim trick on the new update.

Follow these steps and it works everytime.

1. Go to settings
2. More
3. Cellular Networks
4. Preferred network type
5. If you are on global change to LTE/CDMA
6. Once you change it, pop the Sim out
7. Phone will take you to the lock screen.
8. Put Sim back in... 4 seconds later, enable the hotspot via pull down menu.
9. It should work.

10. So next time you want to enable to hotspot, you will need to change the network type to Global, then change it back to LTE/CDMA and repeat the Sim trick.

Let me know of anyone has success.

I tried reverting to 7.1.1 (glad my bootloader is unlocked), but couldn't get it to work again. I flashed NOF27D (7.1.1 from April), NOF27B (March) and NOF26V (Feb) and each time the SIM pop trick didn't work. I also turned off automatic system updates, but still the system immediately updated to 7.1.2 next time I rebooted. Anyone else try this and have success? And anyone know how to turn off auto updates and make it stick, without rooting? Thanks!
