How to get your promised "glitch" unlimited, activating phone
OK, so I just got through the process. Note 3 is up and running with unlimited data. I preordered during the glitch. To help:
The receipt that came with my phone said 2 GB. Before attempting to activate, I called customer service from another phone (NOT the Note 3). I had the nicest lady (I actually think she was an old woman, imagine that). I basically explained what I was calling about, and how I have an email receipt that says I should have unlimited data. I told her about the glitch (she'd sort of heard about it), as well as the press release given to Droid-Life saying Verizon would honor the unlimited orders.
She understood and had me activate the phone. FOR PEOPLE HAVING TROUBLE ACTIVATING: We went through the on-screen process on the Note 3, and it wasn't activating, so she told me to hang up and call the 877 number (not from Note 3) on Step 3 of the activation guide the device came packaged with. She said she'd call me back. I went through the process, pulled the battery and powered up to an activated phone. Easy.
Couple minutes later, she called me back and basically told me the phone was activated but showing the 2 GB plan in her system. I told her I had my preorder receipt and the link to the Droid-Life article with Verizon's release. She told me to forward them to her via email and that she'd take it to somebody above her to have it reviewed. (For note: she said the link wouldn't really matter, as she had no way to verify the information. She just wanted the proof of receipt, I think. "This is what I needed," she said. I included the link anyway.)
We hung up and she called me back 10 minutes later with good news. They put the unlimited back on my line, no problem. Everything checked out online, too.
There was one catch, however. She said I will have unlimited for the length of the contract (2 years) and ONLY the length of the contract. When it expires, I will be moved to a tiered plan, whether I upgrade, buy a device at full retail, or other. I'm guessing they MAY give that offer to everybody calling in. Not really ideal, but pick your poison.
For me, I was prepared to go on a tiered plan, as I don't use over 6 GB each month, so this extra two years is an added bonus.
Hope that helps folks.
