ok I have everything installed and I checked to disable tethering provisioning and rebooted.

Now when I try to turn it on it just doesn't turn on. The bar slides over for a second then slides back to off.

Man this is going to fight me every step of the way.

Try using the wanam xposed module, I have no idea what to try next. Mine wasn't being such a butthead to get to work.

MOD EDIT: Removed full quote of the OP.

Does it matter what update version I'm on? I have a Verizon G935V on the very first shipped update, I froze the package manager the moment I got it just in case root came along. Does it really matter what update I'm on? I just want this to go as smooth as possible

I would suggest updating to the newest for this month. Also since you have used package disabler, for best results be sure to factory reset to avoid problems. Package Disabler leaves residual issues when using the engboot that WILL cause issues if not reset before trying to root.

You're good.

Friendly tip, try to not to quote the entire first post because it makes scrolling through these pages a headache :)

Am I the only one having issue with Odin? It doesn't detect my phone at all. Win 10 x64.

EDIT: Nevermind, tried it on a different computer and it worked.

It should work perfectly fine. the only things I would see not working are things that require an unlocked bootloader. Some things like TWRP would not work because of this.
I was having problems with the driver status being abnormal but I figured out that i needed to set selinux to permissive (theres an app for that) once i did that and rebooted it works great. Thanks for everyone's help:D
