Verizon S7E Root Issues Thread (with fixes)

Flash all 4 if you want your phone like new. Make sure to back up any pics etc just in case. After the first boot you could even do a factory reset just to make sure it's all clean.

Thanks for the reply. The download was 1 large MD5 file I flashed as AP. It flashed and then I did a factory reset. Problem still persists. Am I supposed to extract the MD5 file into 4 files that go into those slots in ODIN somehow?

You need to flash ap, cp, bl and cfc. I believe the cp file holds the modem which is where your problem is. Ap is just system.

Please flash the whole thing then report back. Anything after that we should go to pm.

Bootloader is locked on that phone. Root only. For a unlocked bootloader you need the F model which is international. No US models are unlocked.
Root method is the same. Flash eng kernel in Odin and then run the root.bat file to gain root.

You guys are posting alot of stuff that I have me er had a issue with. Are you running the right firmware? Nothing was ever wrong with mms. Don't run frills cpu bad idea. That app hasn't been updated since before my s4... Use kernel auditor M. That's posted on xda. If you use on demand gov on MM you will get nothing but lag. Use conservative. For N use ondemand. Hope this helps. I can give yall my cpu fixes zip of you want. Or take it from my thread and put it on this thread. It's the best one for MM hands down. Let me know be glad to help out

I have the U rom, API3, rooted, but after a few days it keeps unrooting itself after 2 reboots.....

What is the fastest way to re root?

If I try to reflash the rooted AP, then run the root.bat, I do not achieve root, leaving me with the only other thing I know how to reach root, which is to flash stock rom, erasing everything and then redoing the normal method of rooting, then use titanium backup to restore apps.


Is there a way to fix the rebooting loss of root? Or faster way to reach root?

Anyone else having this issue?

This is because your running 2.82 version of SuperSU. @jrkruse posted a zip for this but it's for N only. I have modified that zip and made it work for MM. If you don't flash that you need to root and detach superSU so it doesn't try to update. Both will fix this issue

Thanks for this! I haven't been able to flash the zip file you provided because i cant flash the custom recovery on SM-G935V with 7.0.
is there anyways i can install TWRP recovery on this device because odin only stuck without sending recovery. thanks in advance

You can't use twrp or flash anything in recovery. The bootloader is locked

I have all these fixes in my rom I made already. Running good so far. Gonna run it hard for a little before uploading. I'm using vzw software and I don't have lag. I didn't build nine off of U build. Gonna do a seperate rom for that as its stripped of everything. I like everything to function on my roms. If they can atleast

Thread for INITIAL ROOT ISSUES on the Verizon S7E
Let's get a compilation of issues and fixes all in one nice area. Please add your replies below and I will try to include them here when I can.

Most issues can be resolved with the zip file at the bottom of this post

1. WiFi credentials not saving or connecting after reboots:
Perm fix: Download a build prop editor app and edit this field --- ro.securestorage.support=true to ro.securestorage.support=false

2. Searching for service:
Temp fix: Start a phone call to anybody and it will kickstart your service
Perm fix: Some users have reported that wiping and reinstalling PE1 and re-rooting works, sometimes.

3. MMS not sending/receiving:
Temp fix: turn off WiFi and it will work temporarily
Perm fix: See ZIP file below!
Notes: Also check that you haven't accidentally disabled or frozen IMS Service or IMS Settings or MmsService

4. Weird RCS Service or VoLTE Service icons that appear on the device after rooting:
Perm fix: See x3demond3x fix here

5. Laggy performance:
Perm fix: Download and install a CPU governor app such as No Frills CPU Control and set the governor to OnDemand or Interactive. Experiment with this at your own risk, some settings will work better than others.

6. Xposed not installing:
Fix: Use this custom Xposed from this post
Link to download if post gets deleted

7. Issues with ADB:
Fix: Make sure you have ADB properly installed. This guide will help you install ADB and drivers easily.

8. Bricked your phone or want to return to stock:
Fix: I recommend installing the latest Verizon firmware via Odin, courtesy of MisterXTC.

9. Phone getting hot:
Temp fix: Just let the phone sit for a while and do it's thing. Off the charger. My phone eventually calmed down and cooled off, and never heated up again.
Perm fix: return to stock. (try rooting again if you wish)

10. Unauthorized modifications have been made to your device.
Fix: Download Titanium Backup or Package Disabler Pro and disable/freeze SecurityLogAgent

11. DO NOT UPDATE SUPERSU OR THE BINARIES. All root guides and instructions say specifically not to do this.
Fix: Not doing it
