Today (5-19-14), Verizon Wireless announced the activation of it's XLTE data service in cities of 44 states across the country.

For a list of cities where the new XLTE service is available, click here.

For a list of VZW phones that support the new XLTE bandwidth, click here.

Find out more about XLTE (AWS) specific to the VZW Note 3 at this thread created by @milan03 back when VZW first started beta testing XLTE.

I mean my phone seems snappier on the web, but i just upgraded to the nc4 baseband so not sure if its that. Does this need to be enabled in a hidden menu? Or this just means my market will be double as fast

Most reports indicate that users don't need to do anything to enable XLTE on existing XLTE capable devices. However, VZW's Insiders Guide page states the following:

"Is XLTE enabled by hardware or software on the device?

Both. XLTE-ready devices have an additional antenna built in, as well as software, which allow them to work on the 1700 MHz frequency that XLTE uses. Many newer phones already support XLTE, though some may need a software update to take advantage of the new spectrum."

If you've got a rooted VZW Note3 and want to double check to see if XLTE is enabled, then follow the directions in this thread to 'Enable AWS' in Service Mode.

@Zacedward, it will continue to say 4GLTE. I've been looking for app that will tell which band you're on, but haven't found one yet...so you can only confirm that you're using XLTE by accessing Service Mode.
Ok sounds good do you know how I would access the service mode thanks

@Zacedward

You Must be Rooted...then:

Enable access to the ServiceMode on a rooted VZW Note 3 by editing the /efs/carrier/HiddenMenu file and changing it from OFF to ON (uppercase is required).

Then, in the phone dialer, enter *#27663368378# to go the Service Mode main menu.

From my understanding the southern part of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN) and surround suburbs has XLTE but the northern part is being worked on. I hear this summer to fall is when it'll go live in the northern part.
