Just an update about the above. I went to Best Buy tonight and showed them the Amazon price of $249.99 and they refunded $50 back to my credit card with no hassles at all.I bought my Note 3 at Best Buy also for $300, along with a couple of GS4's. They were great to price match Amazons price of $119.99 for the GS4's, but I didn't learn about the VERIZON30 discount going on for the Note 3 until two days later. Amazon is now selling the Note 3 for $250. Does anyone have any idea if I went back and showed them the Amazon price, would they refund $50 back? Technically I am within the 14 day return window and could go that route, but it would be a hassle.

Yes, my contract was for new service. But he honestly didn't even check. He just asked if I had a print out or if I could pull it up on my phone. I had it pulled up on my phone before I went in the store so it was ready.I see the Amazon price of $249 is for new service and $279 for upgrades, was yours a new service?

NOTE: I work at Best Buy MobileIt only works if get the phone subsidized. I want to keep my unlimited data and it won't work if you pay full price.![]()
I missed out on the Verizon30 code, but this is the CHEAPEST price i've found online so far and Best Buy honored this price for me tonight!!For anyone who missed out on the Verizon30 promo code, amazon sells the Note 3 for $250 on 2 year contract. $50 off what Verizon sells.
It's not 30%, but better than nothing, imo.

First, thanks for the tips. Second, when you say to keep unlimited data to do an alternate upgrade, what do you mean specifically by an alternate upgrade? Can you possibly provide a little more detail? I missed the Verizon30 code by minutes apparently and if I can save a few bucks, I'll take what I can. Thanks again.NOTE: I work at Best Buy Mobile
you can keep your unlimited data if you do an alternative upgrade. just for anyone else wondering how to get the discounted price without loosing the unlimited data
also, with the price matching. MOST employees will only check the the price tag from online retailers without looking at the fine print. however, when i train the new guys coming in to mobile, i always tell them to check if its a new line or upgrade price since it changes. So this wont work on every employee but it will work on most.
If you want to make sure you get the best ABSOLUTE price for your phone, buy the phone and the normal upgrade price (lets just say $300 since its the note 3) and then come back a couple hours later but go to the customer service desk and tell them that you found a better price. The returns desk doesnt know that they need to look for the upgrade price or the new line price on the website.
just a couple helpful tips.
Alternate upgrade is upgrading another line an then putting the new phone on your line. The line being upgraded will lose unlimited data. I just did this. Upgraded my dad's line and then popped my SIM in the Note 3. He got an S4 but his data became 2GB/mo. after the upgrade.First, thanks for the tips. This works like a charm...Upgraded a secondary line that had a dumbphone on it, called Verizon when the phone arrived and they activated on my main line with unlimited data. Never even had to activate on the secondary line. The rep makes it look like it was activated on the upgraded line and then switches to the line you want. Took 10 minutes on the phone. I was lucky enough to use the code and get in before they stopped it.Alternate upgrade is upgrading another line an then putting the new phone on your line. the alternative upgrade is where you use an upgrade on a line that doesnt have an upgrade.First, thanks for the tips. The "loop hole" right now is when you upgrade a line, whatever phone number the phone is going on is going to be the line that looses the unlimited data.
line 1: 111-111-1111 (Upgrade date: Jan 1, 2013) - Has Unlimited Data
line 2: 222-222-2222 (Upgrade date: July 15, 2015) - Has 2GB Data plan
Since line 1 has the upgrade, if you do the upgrade onto line 1 (where the phone is going to be activated on 111-111-1111) you will lose the unlimited data.
However, if you use the alternative upgrade available on line 1 for line 2, (where the phone will be activated on 222-222-2222) line 1 will get to keep the unlimited data but the phone will be activated on the wrong number.
If you go down the alternative upgrade route, you will be creating a little more work for the guy activating your phone. The Note 3 was put on line 2, but we really wanted the note 3 to be on Line 1. So now what has to happen is you will need to hardware swap the old device back onto line 2 (since only one device can be active on a line, the device that was on line 2 before the alternative upgrade will be known as the old device). When you do the hardware swap to where the old device is back on line 2, you will now have what we call a "dead device". Simply means that it is not activated.
Once the note 3 is dead, you will now be able to do another hardware swap on line 1 with the note 3. This is the long way to do an upgrade, but it WILL NOT remove your unlimited data.
NOTE: when the alternative upgrade has been done DO NOT TURN ON THE NOTE 3!!!!! Verizon SIMs can only be activated on one number and will need to be issued if the phone activates the SIM.
But when we read different posts that say to do different things, it gets harder to understand. From all of my reading about keeping unlimited data, I had to determine on my own that you must have two lines on your account already. At first I was thinking that you could add a second line or something, but, apparently, you can't and my only option now is to either get an unlocked phone at full price, or go with the crappy Verizon Max plan that gives you 6 GB for $30. Which, compared to the other options, it is the best deal, but it really isn't a deal when Verizon is stripping us all of our money and ripping us off. That's the price we pay for the best 4G service I guess.Everyone over thinks this whole process, it takes 2 seconds..
activate phone on the line u upgraded,
go to the website. switch devices back,
pop your existing sim in the new device and boot it up.
This will work but you will lose the NFC function since the note 3 has a different type of SIM card than previous phones.Everyone over thinks this whole process, it takes 2 seconds..

O Rly? I have been using a sim that I got from the Verizon store about 4 months ago from my SGS3, and NFC works, no problem. This will work but you will lose the NFC function since the note 3 has a different type of SIM card than previous phones.
Which promo did you get? the waived activation or the verizon30? How much did you end up paying? I saw a few different final prices that people were getting. I tried calling Verizon to get this promo and spoke to a manager and they still said no. Maybe they approved it because you were a preorder. I am just trying to buy one now.FINALLY....After 4 calls to Verizon I got the promo credited to my account. ..I threatened to cancel my 2 cell phones 2 Internets Home phone n TV accounts. I immediately got a supervisor that approved the promotion even though I pre ordered it at a Verizon store
