Try to run Froyo RUU 2.2. With phone connected via USB.

It should be

Code:
adb reboot bootloader
'adb reboot recovery' in the guide is wrong. It's sending you to the stock recovery not bootloader

Not sure about the error with Winzip, could be a bad download.

Yup it work it was "adb reboot bootloader" then when takes me there click it then it read it work but i had to use my sdcard because the one on the shift was not reading it thanks again man u should update that little part.

something like this

Code: adb reboot bootloader

The HTC Evo Shift 4G will reboot & usually boot into fastboot. Pressing the Power button will put the device into the bootloader.
The bootloader will scan for the update. Once it finds the update, select Yes.
Allow the bootloader to finish flashing the updated, and reboot the HTC Evo Shift 4G normally.

I do everything as described in the first post until I unplug my phone and start the terminal emulator on my phone and when I type "su" i get permission denied.

When in command line I type adb shell, i do get the # instead of $ sign. idk what to do...

Rather than using terminal emulator, try using the same command in adb shell. As long as you have # in shell it should push the misc.img

So I'm all set to downgrade. What is the RUU link supposed to download? I keep downloading a VGrabber. Is that what is supposed to be loading? Am I missing a step somewhere with the ruu thing?

RUU 1.07 or the PG06IMG.zip that is in the original post. the PG06IMG.zip method is faster but harder to get working. Sometimes bootloader wont find the file or theres a problem with the SD card. RUU will work it just takes a long time.

Thank you for the reply, but I'm saying that everytime I try and download the link on the first post which is for the ruu it has me downloading a downloader. Is that the actual file that I'm needing to get? Is that ruu? What is this: MD5SUM: a4b880954d2ac29d5bdf0dade9dede3c behind the link? Is that something that is needed to acquire ruu?

Just click on the "direct download" button for mutiupload. I never use any of those types of download sites for any of my uploads, but when I have to use it for downloading a file I prefer mutiupload or megaupload if it's available.

Ah Wurd. Got it figured out. Next question when running the ruu is do I have phone on charge only or data?

Edit: I'm thinking that the SD card has to be in the data phase. Trying...

thanks so much for this tutorial. I successfully rooted my shift last night! It's the first time I've ever rooted a phone.

a couple months ago i got my shift stuck in a bootloop because i messed up the downgrade part.

If your a n00b like me and are worried about messing up your phone, read the wiki, do searches/ask questions for anything you don't understand, read this whole thread, reread the tutorial, then follow the tutorial, take your time and pay attention to what you're doing.

this might be redundant advice, but i messed up my previous phone because i didn't fully understand what i was doing.

again thanks to everyone involved and sharing how to do this!
