Your friends are never going to believe what you did. The only way to prove it to them is with that video you took. Rate this thread to express how videos shot on the Samsung Galaxy A50 come out. A higher rating indicates that videos are smooth (and not choppy) and that auto-focus works very well, and that the camera adjusts quickly to different lighting conditions while recording.

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Although the Samsung Camera app doesn't support recording beyond 1080p, the Exynos 9610 itself is capable of recording 4K at 120 FPS. However, only 4K30 at about 50 Mbps is available at present through third-party apps as can be seen in the screenshot. 1080p is unfortunately limited to 30 FPS as well, so hopefully Samsung will make better modes available with updates or else there will be no other option than to wait for root access.

Everything is fine under good lighting conditions, though highlights are usually blown out when there are lots of light sources nearby. Hdr isn't that great @1080P 30fps.
The problem is that the Video recording capabilities reduces drastically under lowlight.

The solution for this is to use "Open Camera" app from playstore which supports 4k @30fps ( 48Mbps ), it not only just enables 4k, but the difference in dynamic range is night & day especially under lowlight.

Why only "open camera"? because it's the only app that has better dynamic range & it truly feels like 4k & not just increase in file size. I've tested all other camera apps like, footej, fv-5, manual camera, etc are all crap, they just increase the resolution without any difference in dynamic range while others don't even show 4k rec option.

Lets hope that samsung will push 4k for their native camera app.
Cheers :)

Is OPEN CAMERA limited to 48Mbps at 4k on the A50? higher bitrate settings don't work?

Valid !
》Sorry to say, but the 1080p video on A50 is straight outta crap. Even hdr is turned off for 1080p video which is outrageous!
》Both wide angle and normal video's are crappy with high noise levels and chromatic aberrations and over saturated colours.
》My moto G5 plus from 2016 with sd 625 shoots 1080p & 4k 30fps both with hdr on. It also has 1080p 60fps option. It totally destroys A50 even today in video recording capabilities. Hell even G5 plus has 1080p hdr on it's front cam.
》Even stabilization on G5 plus is a bit better unless we use super steady mode ( which is good only in good lighting conditions as it uses weaker wide angle lens. )
》Exynos 9610 is definitely more capable as 4k video from Hedgecam/Open camera is vastly superior to the the 1080p crap from stock cam of A50.

Here's an example, have a look yourself:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=10SDk7tGOGE-DgiENUEx0nDKyPj8_mYeY

》Don't even ask about lowlight video's from stock cam. It's pure trash ! Seems harsh, but that's the sad reality of our A50.

Cheers !
