It's not possible to do this without root. You need root to change some device settings to open a Diag Port, which is the bridge to the EFS Partition. This can only be done if you have root.

i just did it! it worked in pixel 5 android 11
in Saudi Arabia

thanks bro i really appreciate it

Flashing the ender-zhao module has worked perfectly on stock A12 (carrier: Telcel, in México). However, it does not seem to work on LineageOS 18.1 (A11)... any ideas why?

I find it interesting that I go outta my way to turn off 5g.
Is 4g that slow for some of you guys?
Are you downloading things?
Or just literally want 5g?
Pure curiosity of course!

Thanks for your response, a lot of people have chosen to stay on Android 11 for various reasons having to factory reset for root is one of the main ones.
Yeah, factory reset for root is the main thing and also from what I see on reddit, android 12 is still too buggy.

It's probably those of us living outside the official supported countries that have 5G disabled. We paid top dollar for a phone that advertised 5G so it would be great if we had the option to use it, because who would've known that google would do such as thing as to disable 5G for unofficial countries.

Same thing with Hold For Me and Call Screening. After 10 years of only using Samsung phones, I made the switch to Pixel after reading about all the big headlines about the cool Pixel-exclusive features, only to find out after that it's US and Canada only. Though, that's on me for not carefully reading the fine print.

We just want the option to be able to use the features that we paid for 😭

That's odd, since it works on the Pixel 5 also rooted and on June update.

I even noticed we don't have to repeat the procedure after flashing new update if the radio version was not modifed. On the other hand, if radio is updated (newer version), then we will have to repeat the entire process in order to have 5G connectivity back.

This is a step by step video tutorial for those who find written guides difficult to follow.

    Download links and CMD commands:

    adb shell
    su
    resetprop ro.bootmode usbradio
    resetprop ro.build.type userdebug
    setprop sys.usb.config diag,diag_mdm,adb
    diag_mdlog

Yes it is Verizon. That's bullshit if Google changed this so that people can't use their phones to it's fullest capabilities.
Google is already limiting phone capabilities to US only. E.g "Call screening" and "Hold for me" is also US only feature. I can spoof my location with Market Unlocker to force enable it but this makes my phone think I have a Verizon sim card inserted which occasionally causes me to lose data connection (easy fix is to just make a phone call and hang up). Also, the March feature drop "Smart Compose" is also US only and I have no ****ing idea why. I understand it being English only and that's totally fair but limiting that to just the US is total bullshit.

I was a long time samsung fan and switched over to Pixel 5 after hearing about all these advertised features, only to realise after I got it that these features are US only. Pixel 5 may be my first and last google phone, depending on how Google comes around and stop with all their bullshits.

    Hi,

What are the commands to turn off diag mode off? or does this automatically disable when removing the USB, thank you.
If I'm not mistaken it reverts back after a reboot and the phone is no longer recognized by QPST

Thanks a lot for the video and instructions, however, I tried your method for CMHK (China Mobile Hong Kong) and it doesn't work.
China uses a different type of network technology than the global standard. This may be why it doesn't work for China.
