How is v4a currently installed? I'm interested in the actual installation path like /system/priv-app/ViPER4Android_4x, for example.

Meaning, audio_effects.conf is called by Viper in the background as part of its functions and therefore these (Beats and Huawei) are not configurable by user?
Android System runs the show concerning audio_effects.conf. If you disable v4a and/or any other DSP, you'll still get the Beats™ Huawei™ processing.

Seconding Koudies' praise here.

I'm a longtime member of XDA and probably fall between a noobie and skilled user. In general I do a pretty good job at doing a little research, some searching, etal. Sometimes though - things are just confusing and there can be so much 'noise' in these threads - that you just need to ask a basic question to get on track. Also, the search capabilities in XDA aren't great - if you know exactly what you are looking for they are fine but if you need to do a contextual search - pretty rough. Pouring through a list of search results is like searching through a needle in a haystack.
In some of the other forums I participate in the responses to what are perceived as stupid questions or someone being 'lazy' - are downright nasty, don't those responders know they are only embarrassing themselves? Certainly there are participants who don't deserve much help (they've done zero research and/or don't have the capabilities to be modding their device)... and if that really gets under your skin, JUST IGNORE THEM. But if you have enough time to rip them apart, you had enough time to point them to some help or kindly tell them they aren't ready to do mods or whatever.... or send them a PM! Getting nasty... just no time for it. The nasty replies are more harmful than the lazy and/or ignorant questions. In one forum in particular - I've become afraid to ask a question because some dev may decide I'm an idiot and rip me a new one.

So we should shine a light on this forum, and hold it up as a model for others to follow. That said - Guitardehero goes WAY above and beyond the highest of expectations - but it is highly appreciated and needs to be acknowledged!
It's a shame that you're walking on eggshells in one or more threads as you are certainly an asset wherever you post.

You previously helped me get this setup by having me delete viper folders in data/app. I'm trying to do this again, but it will not let me delete anything.

There are no viper files in root/data/app
On my internal memory, there is a 3 meg folder. I cannot delete this:

http://imgur.com/8TU4QKQ
http://imgur.com/EIloDgi

"Sounds like my zip did not delete a previous v4a install. If you have a copy of a compatible rom zip do this:

Delete any folder with viper in the name in /data/app

Boot to recovery
Wipe > Advanced > System, Dalvik Cache, Cache
Mount > uncheck System
Install > rom zip
Reboot

Check for sufficient free space in /system

Boot to recovery
Wipe > Advanced > Dalvik Cache, Cache
Install > ViPER zip
Wipe > Advanced > Dalvik Cache, Cache
Reboot"
What are you trying to achieve? If it's deleting a /data installation of v4a and there is no viper folder in /data/app you're good to go. It seems like you are trying, unsuccessfully, to delete a v4a directory holding profiles and IRS files. I cannot stress the importance of using Root Explorer enough. If Root Explorer cannot perform an action you desire then it likely is impossible through any file manager. Root Explorer is likely the best $4 I ever spent on an Android app.

Why VA4 folder is not crashed on my directory?I can't put irs fills there

Where are attempting to place IRS files?

Try this:

In v4a
Menu > UI Setting > Expert
Underneath FIREqualizer check Enable Convolver
Look quickly for the brief toast listing the working v4a directory
Menu > Save Effect Profile > As new profile > type "HereItIs" > OK
When you find the directory containing HereItIs in the Profile folder you've found the working v4a directory and shouldn't have any further issues, especially if you use Root Explorer.

This thread seems a bit overwhelming. If I only listen to Google play music on high quality setting will I see much improvement from installing this mod?

Got it. So they are working away in the background, no user interaction, in the Android audio world unless I do the uninstall process for your mod and wipe system and reload ROM.
That is what I understand you to mean.
Thanks.

You sure will. Only way Google music was tolerable since its volume is really low

Yes, in fact, you might notice that with v4a turned off, it still sounds better than stock sounded.

There are so many versions. I use pure nexus, Franco kernel 41, and do all my listening on factory installed speakers in an Elantra 2014 over Bluetooth.

I am new to Viper Audio - always heard good things about it. Like someone posted earlier, I too find it a little overwhelming. I followed the instructions in the OP and flashed ViPERAtmos 3.7 Beats Huawei Edition Dark.zip and I found it in the app drawer (6P). So here's where I am somewhat confused. Do I need to flash any other mods? I see a number of them listed at the beginning of the OP, but not sure if I just flash this one zip will I have everything I need? One other question. I followed the instructions after starting the app, yet upon this step - Menu > Load Effect Profile > Audiophile, I do not have any profiles available, so clearly I am missing something. Any insight is certainly appreciated.

Thanks, in advance.

After 6.0, I could not achieve a complete installation to my standards and had to abandon it to avoid confusion and issues with his users. I'll be more than happy to create a build with 7.0.3 if you would like. Just let me know if you want Dolby Atmos™ as part of the package or not. I'll be working most of the day and will have a build just for you sometime this evening (-06:00 Central Standard Time).

Beats™ and Huawei™ processing is called into action by audio_effects.conf.
Would be great if you can get a Dolby Atmos Dark version with 7.0.3 out. Thanks.

The Audiophile™ Profile is no longer included in the installation beginning with version 3.6 as that inclusion seemed to cause more issues than convenience.

Try this:

In v4a
Menu > Save Effect Profile > As new Effect > type "azsl" > OK

Now look through the possible working v4a directories such as:

/data/media/legacy/ViPER4Android/Profile
/data/media/0/ViPER4Android/Profile
/storage/emulated/0/ViPER4Android/Profile
/storage/emulated/legacy/ViPER4Android/Profile
/sdcard/ViPER4Android/Profile

When you find the azsl folder you have found your working v4a directory. Be sure to download the Audiophile Extractable zip found in the OP attachments section and extract. Copy the Audiophile folder next to the azsl folder and be sure to also copy the Kernel folder from the extracted zip and place it or just the IRS files inside into the Kernel folder next to the Profile folder in that working v4a directory.

Concnering crackling sound

Reading a lot in this highly informative thread, i decided to switch off convolver and the IRS-system.

Why ? I noticed that sometimes there was played a really little small piece of sound (maybe from the last song i have listened to without any motivation . And afair IRS loads a sample into memory to calculate the IRS effect. So maybe there is something not 100% working with IRS and this cause the crackling.... I just use the convolver now while listening to music over BT and Headphone. I report if there are any positive results...

Cheers

Thanks for the very information reply. I appreciate your patience. I completely missed the Audiophile.zip in the OP - thanks for pointing it out. Are there any other mods, that I need to download, ex - [SOUNDMOD][4.3+/6.0] Huawei EUI 3.1 Ported SRS And DTS Processing, etc.?

Please do, I never thought of that and that indeed does make sense.

@guitardedhero v4a working great bro all is fine. So far i have never seen any mistake in overall installation, all i want is to try something new. I wanna try this mod.
Where is your current v4a installation located?

Sorry, I had forgotten about that part of your inquiry. The ViPERAtmos Beats Huawei editions contain absolutely everything I have made available in the OP except for the Audiophile profile which will need to be downloaded, extracted, and copied into your working v4a directory.
