Still can't get it to freakin work. Did a new ROM install (Temaseks Unofficial Cm12), permissive kernel (LeanKernel 1.3+). Tried with enforcing on and permissive. Tried disabling and enabling NuPlayer. SuperSU enabled on root. Tried several V4A zips. Still can't get anything to work, just does not process the music. Streaming services like Pandora or using the stock music player. Nadda.

Wtf am I doing wrong?
I'm just using the stock ROM but... here's where I've had success:

Install SELinux Mode Changer, set mode to permissive (This is REQUIRED for Viper to work)

Install all 3 zips and success. (No lolliviper zip)

OR

Install Viper4Android plus build.prop zip with SELinux mode changer

OR (trying now, haven't confirmed working myself yet)

flash Lolliviper from OP + build.prop zip from the 3 zips along with SELinux mode changer, run Viper in compatibility mode.

OK I'm going to try again. Oh I forgot to mention that I tried to delete those commits in the audiopolicy.conf and still the aux port does not work.

OK guys, we've over complicated this. Lolliviper in the OP plus the build.prop zip, then run in compatibility mode is the way to go. Sounds great and aux still works.

SELinux changer is still needed.

What I've found to work (so far on all roms I've tried) is 1 flash the Viper zip and build prop zip from in this thread not loliviper one 2 nuplayer off 3 selinix to permissive (have read about a few kernels that allow viper to work without this just haven't found one yet) This way does have the side effect of partially breaking aux cable, it works you just have to plug cable in slowly a google screen will pop up (believe it's voice search) back out of that screen and everything works, have tried with youtube, mx player and poweramp. Hope this helps, it's not perfect but does work.

Newest leankernel should work without setting selinux to permissive.

Just installed and works great, are the build prop tweaks, soundfix lib files and selinux permissive kernel no longer needed?

I can confirm the same. I was feeling a little crazy the other night and decided to install the V4A zip on its own without the build prop and sound lib files and it worked (compatible mode) straight away. Of course, SELinux mode is set to permissive on boot and NUPlayer is disabled as advised.

I can only confirm this working with GPM; it's the only media player I use.

Yes the .zip file (from the OP). After flashing and completing the setup (audio driver installation) I updated to v2.3.4 via the V4A app which was then a regular .apk update.
