For them to say you can't switch from Chinese to global ROM is ridiculous. Locking down android goes against everything it stands for. This isnt IOS.
Hopefully someone figures it out. Would be great to get rid of Jovi and replace it with Google assistant.
I completely agree with you.
It should be a method to install the global ROM.
Maybe with a custom recovery.
Anyone tried it?

There's no any kind custom recovery for Vivo Nex.
Only change to see custom recovery is Vivo to released kernel source for the device that until now has not done.

I'don't give any change for that since Vivo is completly negative and developer unfriendly policy.

Take a look at answer got other users from Vivo regarding custom develpment.

I've already read the thread.
I know that Vivo has this "policy"; a lot of other smartphone manufacturers has the same policy. If you want a modding-friendly smartphone, go with pixel, OnePlus, etc.
However, I've seen custom recoveries of smartphones without source code released by the manufacturer.
We should be patient

Let's hope get positive news in near future regarding custom development but personal talking i'don't give more than 1-2%.
I'm having OP5T also and take advantage from custom development and i know the benefit of that.

Well patient and pray Vivo change their mind:fingers-crossed:

I also had a OP5T (great smartphone), but OnePlus has another policy regarding releasing source code. This is the best feature of this brand.
But no-one smartphone manufacturer should release their source code, they are not obliged.

However, I think this is a very good ROM, nevermind if Google assistant is not combined with left button reserved to Jovi (I don't use Google assistant). Chinese, Indian and global roms are very similar.

You can flash anything in 9008 EDL mode using QPST, split ROM images for vivo nex can be found in net, but for now this is a chinese version, just wait for global rom will be available.
To enter 9008 (you should have adb divers installed and working, developer options enabled, your device should be shown by command "adb devices") execute command "adb reboot edl" command.
To exit this mode perform a hard reset.

Yeah i know thats how it works.
Vivo Rom is great even chinese one but i would prefer more Oxygen style :p
But as a said i realy like this phone that's why i'm keeping it as i found all the tips to work as i want and behaves more like a western standard OS than chinese one:D

I'dont even have any kind chinese app installed(completely remove them)and only theme store watching chinese staff but that's no issue at all.

All notification manage to work like a charm and really enjoying Vivo Nex(yes it has some few disadvantages more hardware relited(no wireless charging or no NFC) but hey nobady perfect right??)

Every device out there has it's own disadvantages.

The rom file downloadable in this link:

is flashable via Qualcomm Flash Image Loader (QFIL)?

How do you get Google Assistant to work consistently?

Every few days it tells me 'the Google app isn't your default assist app' and asks me to go to setting. But once I done that it reverts back and give me the same error message.

I need to flash the global ROM asap; but any workaround at the meantime?

I will have a go tonight.
The workaround made was to locate Jovi Assistant APK package name with APK Inspector and uninstall it through adb shell.

I’m having the Chinese version not Indian so no Google assistant.
Even if I had Indian version I wouldn’t work Google assistant as it’s not feature I’m using it.

The only reason using global version instead of Chinese is to have WhatsApp and Viber support notifications at AOD plus get rid off completely needed of having Vivo account.

Also with global version there’s off screen gestures support to WhatsApp,email app and browser that Chinese does not offer.

That’s the only reasons I could potentially Flash global rom to my Chinese version I’m having.

We are waiting your impressions if manage successfully install global rom and give us feedback.

For me uninstalling Jovi Assistant (vivo agent) and selecting Google assistant as the primary worked for me. I was able to remap the AI button to work with Google assistant. But you have to make sure Google assistant and button remapper are Auto started in iManager. The AI button works most of the time and a reboot makes it work again it it doesn't respond.
