My pixel 2 XL stopped charging a few days ago during my vacation in china...
They don't sell the international version here...

Some notifications are blocked and the software is sort of a hassle to get it working properly...
As posted before by another user, jovi keeps reverting to the default assistant...

I don't have my PC here otherwise I'd try flashing the international rom...

There is a software update waiting but i chose to hold off in case i may try to 'update' to global rom...

If you have the opportunity, get global variant.
Otherwise, chinese is not bad. I imagine it'll get better for me once i can adb disable the rest of the apps.

When i get back to the states, i will tinker with the device. There's gotta be a way to flash the international rom

I downloaded that and tried to flash it through the phone's recovery settings cause AFtool sucks ass it doesnt even work for me, and it didnt work cause it says its a lower version than what it is now

A telegram contact (Ayush Kumar) gave me the above link to a bbk tool. He says it may work because it unlocked his x21. I'm currently prepping for Hurricane Florence and won't have time to mess around with it.

yes, how can we bypass the lower version thingy?

Seems, all protections is inside of the device itself. It ignored all attempts, regardless of method of access. Only EDL mode can override this, but it can be accessed only from main PCB testpoints, and, maybe, using special service cable.

Vivo is a pain in the arsch! I would buy an international version if you can. They are both restrictive with customizations. As far as hardware they are the same, but the software makes it impossible at the moment to change from Chinese to global.

I managed to get a vivo account and get nova launcher, right now i have no chinese crap, well not that much. so its livable i guess

Actually you should had being informed before buying that global version is available only with 8/128 hardware configuration.

There’s NO 8/256 global version.

What they do those sellers like Aliexpress is to open device and put manually play store/google services but the rom remaining Chinese as come out of factory and not global.

I managed to get a vivo account and get nova launcher, right now i have no chinese crap, well not that much. so its livable i guess

Actually if you remove all Chinese bloatware(very easily I can say) and do 2-3 fundamentals settings like installing Nova launcher and some steps so app continues work in background and getting notifications the Chinese rom is very responsive,smooth and reliable.

Just some 2-3 missing features from global rom like 2 more app notifications support at AOD and off screen gesture that support WhatsApp instead of Chinese famous messaging app and clone app for example WhatsApp and Google assistant instead of Jovi digital assistant out of box.

Nothing more.

Yes either open the box and put those things or just send the device factory sealed but it’s always being Chinese version.

Well I don’t want to disappoint you but you should know that you must live and deal of using Portuguese PT and non the PT-BR

You are in better position because my main language does not being support both version and using English language(fortunately its very familiar and using it many years both smartphone and tablet or windows device so no problem to me )
