Great news re: VOLTE. No such luck here in QC here unfortunately with ROGERS. Spent some time on the phone with them this morning and we both reset out network settings, I switched on the toggle using the phone menu codes, and no options. Luckilly I do get 5G at home, but would be nice when I go to poor reception areas.

I don't see the Volte HD calling option in SIM settings after the update, did it just appear for you after the update or did you need to do something to get the toggle to appear?

I am going to retract my comment above. New update just landed for me today and VoLTE is now active for me on ROGERS in QC. Also immediately improved my 5G reception!

Rocky had this to say on this thread, on getting it working for him, hopefully that helps you. Sounds like Shawnki91 in QC has his fully working, lol could this not have been a couple of weeks ago before I went for the Fold 4.

So I have been in a back and forth with Vivo once to twice daily over VoLTE for 2 weeks, probably with 3 or 4 people emailing them they finally budged but I can't see the update yet... Also how are you guys rooted? Early BLU ? Can someone upload the zip please. Thanks 🙏

I am still waiting as well. The updates are released in batches by IMIE number, so you should get it in the next few weeks. Unfortunately the updates download and install without the option to simply download first. Consequently, I can't see anyone having the update file available to share because it is not stored on the device once the update has been applied. The publicly available firmware on the manufacturer's Chinese site is still several versions behind.

The VoNR toggle was always available in Developer Settings. The problem with it of course is that none of the Canadian carriers have any plans to implement VoNR. I still don't have the update that enables VoLTE, so I've been using my Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. Enabling VoLTE on it was a simple as using the code in the dial app (although for some reason that only works on Rogers, not on Bell). It is also a lot lighter than the Vivo, although to be honest it is so light that I will probably end up losing my grip on it and dropping it one day.

It is a shame, the update has not come through for you yet, weird that Rocky got his and you are still waiting.
I hear you on that - so thin, sleek, and light.... one postivie with the Z Fold 4 (lots of cases to choose from), the Spigen Slim Armor Pro Pen Edition case, really feels good and has protection all around, to the point I feel pretty confident holding it and if it does fall, seems pretty tough to take some hits, lol, also JerryRigEverything did a number on it so pretty durable, it will be cool to see him work on the Mix 2.... maybe there are some better cases out there you can try from AliExpress that may help to protect the Mix 2 from some drops better than the one that comes with it, if you are OK with a little more size. I know I feel better about the Fold 4 with the case on it, than not.

My phone works in US on Bell and Telus roaming with 5G, without any issues.
Ohh wow!! I'm wanting to get the vivo x fold but soo not sure it would not work in the US. I'm currently with ATT and they have done away with the 3g voice which sucks..but with the new update to enable VoLTE it should work I would think. I currently have the Samsung note 20 ultra which I had to get due to the 3g voice discontinued from my Huawei mate 20.. I love that phone lol...

Yeah the vivo x fold works with T mobile.. just not sure with ATT.!!
I would be cautious about AT&T. They use a "whitelist" method of VoLTE provisioning, and there are no Vivo phones on their whitelist. T-Mobile does not use a whitelist. If the device is VoLTE capable, and if the phone manufacturer provides a method to enable VoLTE (which Xiaomi does with a dialing code or which Vivo has recently done with a firmware update to the X Fold) then VoLTE will work on T-Mobile.

Ironically my Fold X has not yet received the firmware update to enable VoLTE, but my Huawei Mate 20 X has always had VoLTE enabled on the various Canadian carriers that I use and it roams with VoLTE in the United States.

Yeah I'mma do more research before I buy any other Chinese phone..I have an Xiaomi mi mix..and it works with VoLTE on AT&T but I have a custom rom installed on it also..soo 🤷🏿‍♂️. And I wasn't aware of Xiaomi having a dialing code to enable the VoLTE ! Hmmm which now that I think about it.. I may do more research on the Xiaomi fold 2 working on AT&T !!

Is there a way to enable VoLTE on the Huawei Mate 20 X . I don't believe my mate 20 is enabled..I can get 4g data but can't talk or make calls due to voice drops to 3g.. AT&T has discontinued 3g!!

I also have the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, and although I don't have the Vivo X Fold update yet that would allow VoLTE on Canadian carriers (they don't support VoLTE on Xiaomi or Vivo) I was able to enable VoLTE on my Xiaomi just by entering the disable carrier check code in the dialer app.

Unless you're Huawei already has an unlocked bootloader so that you can root with magisk and install the VoLTEenabler module, or edit your build.prop, then there are no ways to force VoLTE on your Huawei. Huawei stopped releasing unlock codes several years ago. The only reason I have VoLTE on my Huawei Mate 20 X is that all of the Canadian carriers used to sell the device before the Google ban on Huawei went into effect and so it is an approved device for VoLTE provisioning on their networks.

a japanese figured out how to unlock volte in japan. but u have to unlock the bootloader, root and patch an img file with magisk. then again, it's a risk for doing that. and it might not necessarily work in canada.

GREAT news. I've been debating on getting the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 or Vivo X Fold S (when it comes out). This adds a point to Vivo.

I am in Canada interested in getting the Vivo X Fold, but finding out that Canadian carriers (main ones here in Canada: Rogers and Bell) from local XDA Forum on the Vivo X Fold (https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/vivo-x-fold.12651/) do not allow the VoLTE 4G to be turned on here in Canada even though carriers support 4G and LTE bands on your phone.

VoLTE is the major Voice Over LTE 4G communications standard protocol, that allows us in Canada with local carriers to talk on the phone with others.

See forum feedback from XDA member that is in Canada with your Vivo X Fold phone:

for his feedback and efforts to get VoLTE to work, i.e. it is not working!

Is there a reason why the VoLTE 4G is greyed out and can't be turned on, on the Vivo X Fold her in Canada, thereby making voice phone calls not possible on your phone through this standard voice communications protocol?

There are a lot of interested people here for the Vivo X Fold in Canada that want a quality foldable phone and don't want to use the Samsung fold because it is too narrow on the front screen,
but looks like we are forced to get it as it is the only foldable that will work on Canadian carriers! Your phone is the only other possible choice BUT DOESN'T HAVE VOLTE 4G WORKING with any of the carriers here in Canada!

Have confirmed this with Rogers and Bell putting their current Sim Card in, and the option to turn on VoLTE is greyed out, i.e. can't be turned on by either cellular service.

I know T-Mobile in USA, the Vivo X Fold works on their network, but why not at least one carrier in Canada?
(There is talk that Vivo got their phones certified for use with T-Mobile in the USA, but no carriers were certified (paid registration fee so that it works with carrier) in Canada, leaving us Canadians that want to use any of your phones, not able to because the VoLTE can't be turned on in the phones mobile service settings.

Can you tell me why this is not working and/or reason why VoLTE is not able to be turned on?

Is there anything that can be done about this?

For what its worth, you can enable VoNR for stand alone frequencies. in developer settings or with a dialing code. The problem is that while these phones can connect on n78 Stand Alone networks, (3500mhz) the Canadian telecoms have just started using this frequency and it is only in a few major cities. They are also not using Voice Over 5G (VoNR) so even when the n78 band reaches your area, you would have to wait for the carrier to switch their technology for voice calls from VoLTE to VoNR. So far only T-Mobile (in Seattle and Salt Lake City) have turned on VoNR.

well... just bought myself a Vivo X90 Pro Plus China version............ Ben Sin says there's going to be a global version.... maybe I should've waited... but youtube reviewers are showing connectivity in the US with AT&T, I see Germany connectivity, etc. without issues and bands verification shows Spain, Italy, France, UK, etc. all good....... Google apps are store are supposed to work.

I just didn't want to wait a whole month to get confirmation there is going to be a global one of the Plus... I do not know Ben's insider because no other news anywhere on the web says the Plus will be a global release.

Hopefully I won't have any VOLTE issues as per this thread.

I'm going on a vacation/trip early March so I wanted to get this phone before that.... Global would've likely been to late for me to get my hands on the phone before the trip.
