The phone profile doesn't show up or is it showing up only not working ?

Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Phone profile shows up and bound, but doesnt work.
I have 2 BT headsets the first is phone and media audio capable the other is only phone. I can use the media capable headphone normally but can't use the plain one that is only phone audio capable.
When I try to use the phone audio profile on the first one, the headset gets crazy, turn off for itself and some unexpected troubles on the tablet too.

What app are you trying to use it with?
Not all voip apps support BT headsets at all.
Groove IP should work fine with it though.
The stock dialer should also work fine with it.

Skype through stock phone.apk (works perfect with loudspeakers but not with bt)
I thing skype supports because I have the option to change for bt speakers in the app.

Thought I posted this earlier. Groove IP is definitely using the Phone profile.
On my current wifi N7 using Groove IP I was unable to get it to use the headset microphone when a headset was plugged in. It would capture sound from the normal mic but not the headset mic. Any luck with that on the 3G version?

Unfortunately this is the standard behaviour as Asus/Google decided to use only a headphone jack not a headset jack.
The Mic that should normally come from the headset is used for the second mic on the N7.

So the only way to use N7 to make voice calls (if it will be possible) is in Loudspeaks or Bluetooth, right?

*#*#4636#*#* to get LTE

Hi all, by now most of you have probably read that the Nexus 4 has built-in LTE; just not announced. To enable it you have to go into the phone debug mode of the Nexus 4.

I have been studying this thread to find if someone has a successful phone.apk working. Seems like some folks have a success phone.apk but it does not dial.

Can any one tell me if by entering *#*#4636#*#* and press the send key enables the phone debug mode? If it does, there is a good chance LTE can also be enabled on N7 3G.

If you want a tool to voice enable the framework-res.apk, try my tool the Auto-patcher. It will decompile your framework-res, make the edits for you, and then recompile it, outputting a flashable zip.

Works on Linux, OSX and Windows.

Windows has a GUI, but you will need the command line for OSX or Linux.

My N7+3g should be here tomorrow...this is the first thing I am looking at.

Edit: Just so i am clear, this will change the framework-res to read as "voice-capable" and enables things like calls with Google Voice. It is certainly the first step in using 3g to make calls. But as shown by people in this thread, more will be necessary to use 3g for calls it seems.

But flashing the zip will enable calls over wifi...

Quick question: has anyone who has made the Phone app work tried to set up a SIP account?

I know that's not the same thing as real GSM voice calls, but I'd be curious if getting the Phone app activated also means that SIP calling might work.

I've linked CSipSimple with the native phone dialer, and it works well for both incoming and outgoing calls using "voip.ms" for the the SIP number. For a 3G connection, however, you will probably have to enter the APN info manually (at least for the Bell Canada network).

Groovy baby!

Sounds very interesting - have any UK N7 3G users tried this? On what network/plan?

Like a lot of people, I don't need to use my mobile phone as a phone very often, it would be nice to have a simple solution in one box as an alternative to a cheap payg for phone calls...

Once I got groove working I haven't looked back.

But your Auto-patcher will not work on Stock ROMs, right? In your thread ist says: "We do not support system.img, Odexed roms..."

I did it and got a screen:
- Tablet information
- Battery information
- Usage statistics
- Wi-Fi information

Under Tablet info there is a option: Turn on lte ram dump
