VOLTE Wifi Calling with Unlocked S10+

Search This thread
Do you happen to have a "EE" branded SM-G975F (S10+)?

I have a SM-G975F Flashed to EE's (EVR) firmware from sammobile and I'm on AT&T in the United States. This method worked for my S9 to gain VoLTE, but I don't see WiFi Calling or a toggle for VoLTE in the connections settings on any current roms available (BTU, XEU, VOD, EVR ETC.).

Does VoLTE / Wifi calling just "work and enabled out of the box" for you or did you need to toggle it on? Does the place to toggle it on / off even exist on the phone (I'm hearing mixed reports on that as well).

Nope, just direct from Samsung with standard unlocked firmware.

Was all enabled by default although there's a wifi calling option in the Quick Panel. Nothing for VoLTE but again on by default.

Interesting, can you tell me what CSC your phone is using? (Settings > About phone > Software information > Services provider SW ver. (last line in field)

Mine is currently EVR/EVR,EVR/TPA (TPA being the burned in original).

Just curious, did you buy have the first phone from samsung unlocked? and how did u go about getting a branded phone? I am on ATT with the same problem. Thinking about sending back my unlocked for a branded ATT s10+, however not sure if they will do it.

I had an international S8 and then bought a branded S10 the other day at the AT&T store but you can get them branded at Best Buy, and other retailers.

You are all talking about T-mobile sim in unlocked pone. I need the confirmation if Verizon WIFIcalling is working on unlocked s10. Need more confirmation.

I wonder if it will work with the Chinese S10+ (SM-G9750)?
I bought one just because it has the combination of Snapdragon 855 and Hybrid Sim slots.

dont you just flash the CSC files to activate these types of features rather than whole roms?

I'm on a unlocked phone running a Sprint Sim WiFi Calling and VoLTE were on as soon as the Sim card was booted. The setting can be found from the dialer keypad. Hit the 3dots-> settings - > WiFi Calling. Or from main settings-> connections-> voice networks.

I have the Hong Kong unlocked Snapdragon SM-G9750 and VoLTE and WIFI calling worked out of the box when I swapped in the T-mobile SIM from my branded Galaxy S7.

I will see if they can provision Visual Voice Mail and Real Time Texting (not that I'm that interested in using them, but you never know).

I'm hooking up to band 2,4,5 and 12, but the phone does not support 66 and 71. Hopefully this will not be an issue in my rare forays to rural areas but I'm mostly in NYC.

I'm super pleased with this phone so far in every respect. With an unlocked bootloader I hope I can root at some point, but this is a pretty obscure variant it seems.

I've had my unbranded Snapdragon since 3/7. I've called AT&T multiple times. They're a bunch of idiots at best. I was told WiFi calling and volte are both provisioned, but I was required to have a branded phone to get those features. When I go in the dialer's there's no option for WiFi calling. Interestingly though, I can find an app for it installed when I go into the main settings and search. However, it does not function. Additional tidbit, if I go to about phone/Status/Sim card status, it says Mobile Voice Network Type: LTE.

TLDR
Unbranded on AT&T
WiFi calling =(
VoLTE =) maybe

Samsung has a network compatibility chart, but they insist on hiding it on their site. Had you seen it you would've known VoLTE and VoWifi are not promised on ATT, whilst using U1 variants.
ATT relies on a whitelist. Sprint has a fairly similar system in place. I'm pretty sure a high ranking employee can modify ATT's too.
Anyway, your best bet might be using the ATT fw or buying an ATT model. (I don't use ATT, nor have I seen confirmation of what happens when U1 is converted to U ATT.)

There's a fair bit of 2, 4, and 12 spectrum outside of NYC. I've never really encountered many dead zones before B66/71. Even then, there's always 3G to fall back on.

I have an unlocked s10+ and after 2 hours on the phone, and a trip a Verizon store, they cannot enable volte. There isn't even an option on my phone to enable it. WiFi calling is also greyed out. Verizon said I need the Verizon build to use volte. I'm hoping I can just flash the Verizon version. Anyone have any idea if that's possible?

I was able to get wifi and volte working on my unlocked s10 by putting sim into verizon phone, letting network recognize it, enabling advanced calling and such on that device and then taking the sim out and putting it back in my new unlocked s10. The option for volte appears in settings-connections-mobile networks.

Wait, how do you swap sim on other phones without disabling the sim card? I switched my sim (Galaxy s10+) to my Op6t and they disabled my sim. Their explanation was that it confuses the system and to keep my sim card in the original phone ??? And if I wanted to use a different phone that I need to go to a store and pick up a new sim card so they can transfer the service. I also tried my son's sim and place it on a different phone and it locked as well and gets no service. I didn't bother to call since I'll be porting out his number anyways cause I think it's BS

No need to disable, on their end its considered a device swap, system automatically recognizes this for verizon atleast.

PSA - VOLTE India - I'm using the 'Unlocked' USA version (snapdragon) in India. VOLTE is working fine on AIRTEL.. No settings needed.

That's not true. I'm using Verizon and have volte and wifi calling. I just went into more connection settings and had the option for volte. I didn't call anyone. Once I inserted the Verizon sim, I had a carrier provisioning update and it just worked.

For those basing your decision to buy unlocked/international vs branded, be warned. I can only speak for Att, but I spent about 2 hours arguing with their level 2 tech department and here's what I have learned. If you have a sim that is provisioned on a branded phone and then put the sim into an unlocked/international phone, you will be able to use volte, wi-fi calling, etc., but only until the carrier pings your imei for a periodical check, once that happens, those features disappear. Also, on Android Pie, the Enhanced LTE Services tab under Mobile Data has been removed as it is turned on by default, also confirmed with ATT. The only way to manually check is to toggle wifi calling on and see if it works. Anyway, just trying to help as I have gone to a branded phone for the first time in 6 years because the reception and enhanced features are more important than rooting to me.

Hey there, I've been doing a bit of research but it has been a long while since i have done any flashing of firmware etc. I received my s10+ device today. Model number is SM-G975UZKAXAA. I am a Verizon wireless customer. When I placed this device on my account I noticed I have no access to Voice over LTE, and I also do not have any access to Wifi Calling. My question is the following. I read somewhere a couple of weeks ago that if I wanted something like this I would need to flash the original VZW Firmware which would have all the lovely bloatware etc on the device. Is there any way I can do that? I have seen firmware that has been posted but I dont seem to see anything that specifically is the VZW apps etc which should (hopefully allow VOLTE and Wifi Calling and maybe even HD Calling, if thats a thing)

I would appreciate any info anyone can provide me on this, as the only solution I can see at the moment is to return the device and start over with a VZW specific device.

    Cheers~
