Well, I decided to stay with the G4, so I gave editing mixer_paths.xml another try. Still not a noticeable change, and the one posted causes way too much distortion. ? Gonna keep trying.

Sound completely gone and mic not working plus stuttering.

Alright I flashed the zip you linked on my tmobile h811 lg g4. After restarting I lost all volume, mic doesn't work, and video and apps stutter/lag. I stupidly forgot to back up the original file. Can someone link me one plz? I just want my phone working.

For those who tried it well, how louder is it making the G4 with earphones?
I tried my Hifiman RE 272 and the stock volume of the G4 is not loud enough

If you are referring to flashing the zip found in the LINKED OP, it should NOT have worked as it is for the G3. The link was a see how and what lines in the mixer_paths file to edit. Please read what you are doing and don't just download and flash, bad things will happen. Also, ALWAYS do a backup before you flash!

To save you without getting the correct file you could go through "low effort root" process or flash a stock rom and reroot.

As my prvious poster sayed, you should always read carefully before flashing something, this time it was just the wrong mixer.config, next time maybe something bad on your bootloader partition which means unrecoverable.

Thanks I'll take this information in consideration before flashing anything else.

I felt like the G4 was plenty loud as is, but I still modified a few things to get it slightly louder. Using solid explorer:

Root storage -> system -> etc -> mixer_paths.xml

You'll see: <ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value = xx>

Please note that certain variants may have different files. I distinctly remember Verizon G3 users had a different file to modify in order to get the sound louder. This may be the case for specific variants of the G4 as well.

I replaced all the digital volumes, from RX1 to RX8 to 90 and noticed a bit of a difference in everything. I'm not quite sure what each one does specifically, as the G3 had a bit this written out a bit cleaner, but 90 seems like the sweet spot for me in the G4. I scrolled down the entire xml file and couldn't really find anything else helpful (more like skimmed it, others may be able to find something).

Now if only I could get rid of the annoying feature that constantly puts the volume down whenever I put headphones in! Ugh.
My sound is damaged from that file. I GET PURE DISTORTION. I didn't back up old file. I KNOW I'M AN IDIOT. Could someone please email me a copy of the original mixer_paths.xml file in system\etc. my phone sounds like it came from pee-wee hermans tech store :p Here is my email [email protected]. It would be so appreciated.

I'm not sure what file you installed. the link in the op is to a tutorial. If you installed a file from the linked thread, you installed the G3 file. Always READ before you flash/install.

It looks like LG G4 is inferior to G3 - this beast could blow out the headphones, it could go so loud without any distortion.
Tried all the values, it does slightly boost the volume, but very quickly there are distortions. I guess we need to live with the low headphones volume.
