Volume button to wake device bug & tasker help

I have a wileyfox swift 1 with lineage os 15.1 with a temperamental power button. I have enabled the volume button to wake device feature however when I listen to music and use the volume button to unlock the phone the volume also goes up. Does anybody else have this issue? A potential fix could be to only change the volume after its woken with the volume button.

Since I want to use my power button less has anybody used tasker to create an on screen/gesture controlled task to simulate a power button press.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
