You may need to modify both of these to 70. Also, MAKE SURE you're modifying the one at /system/etc. NOT /etc.
After modifying it, set permissions, back out of explorer and go back and make sure permissions are rw-r-r.

I want to thank you for the help but I changed the numerical values in the lines you showed exactly and saved, backed out and triple checked that my permissions were rw-r-r and went to reboot and it again got stuck on the sprint welcome screen (bootloop). I don't understand what is going on. Anyone have any feedback on this.
You're gonna be on zv6 shortly anyway. I know because of the other 2 posts I just answered.
Just Flash BarRin_V2. It's ZV6. Then flash the update. Try it and see how it is for you.
Or if you want to stay stock, flash the mixer zip from this op.

So, you wouldn't reccomend doing a restore from my backup that I did on my other phone (zv4). Does bar rin already have the changes to the volume (extreme) already in it??

I downloaded and flashed the bar_rin2.2mixer paths file and sound doesn't sound like it got louder. Android did update 474 files after booting. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've found that copying the modified file into the System folder first and then checking the permissions there then moving it into the etc folder works every time. This was someone else's suggestion and it worked. I noticed 3 times that the permission were set PERFECTLY but when I moved the modified xml into System/etc and rebooted the phone got stuck in the boot loop. When I move the modified file first into System I have seen the permissions change from the correct ones I had saved the file with, over to something else completely. Changing the permissions in the System folder then moving has worked every time successfully.
