volume rocker stopped working

My volume rocker stopped working, but the power button still works. I can still adjust volume with the system settings. Any idea how to fix this? Most of the time it's not an issue, but I wanted to clear the cache after installing the latest update, and that's how I found out it didn't work anymore.

Any ideas on how I can bring it back? If not, does anyone know where to buy parts fix? I've opened the Note before when I replaced the battery last year, so I think I could do it if it isn't too complicated.

It could be a software issue and might work again after factory reset. As there are two switches involved, volume rocker just becomes unidirectional, normally,when it's a mechanical/electrical fault. I'm not sure, but I think the power and volume switches aren't part of a separate assembly, which could be replaced, but soldered to the main pcb. This requires decent soldering skills, which some repair shops have. For Samsung service, it would mean replacing whole pcb or device.
