Right now, my phone boots with boot animation (Motorola animation ->Verizon logo) then goes completely blank. This happened after I tried applying the official OTA 4.4.4. VZW update and failed. I tried applying the official OTA 4.4.4 over the 4.4.4 soak test.

I can boot into fastboot -> recovery which is good news. I tried clearing cache partition which ran for a good 5 minutes before reboot. No success. I tried reinstalling the 4.4.4 soak test zip, failed. Tried installing the official OTA 4.4.4, failed.

I would like to exhaust all options before SBF. Any ideas what I can do to retain my data?

You realize that the soak test build is the final official build. Are you sure you didn't flash the wrong file to your moto x? You can try clearing cache in stock recovery. Otherwise you're stuck with a full reset through rsd.

Where did you get the official OTA?

No, I did not realize that :(. I download the zip file from the comment section of Droid-Life http://www.droid-life.com/2014/07/2...e-now-available-to-all-here-is-the-changelog/. Direct link to said file: http://www.mediafire.com/download/j...sion.164.55.2.ghost_verizon.Verizon.en.US.zip

I already tried clearing cache via fastboot (both through the phone UI and through terminal).

EDIT: Can I do a full reset via RSD using 4.4.2 files found on http://sbf.droid-developers.org/? Even though I was on 4.4.4...

Patience is a virtue. Always wait for a reliable source like XDA or AP for sbf's,APKs ECT. The comments section especially without an md5 is not a place to download files from and flash. Just try to do a factory reset from recovery see if that works. Otherwise flash the sbf.
